Apps to keep/delete?

Discussion in 'Self Improvement' started by aspiringwriter1997, Feb 3, 2019.

  1. So for all of those of you who are going through this PMO journey, what apps do you keep on your phone and what apps do you delete so that the temptation of relapse is not there to keep smacking you in the face?

  2. The Snapchat stories page is always flashing a bunch of crap that can be triggering. I realize that is like a lifeblood app to most your age so that may be blasphemy.
What apps trip you up? Those are the ones you need to take a hard look at if you are serious. And deleting the app only lasts until you have and download it again so you can go back to that warm comfortable place of numbing out on poison that is slowly eating away your life. Oh, yeah I've been there btw.
If you need the gaurdrails to keep the temptations in check then you may want to sign up for something like covenant eyes and ask someone to receive the report. It also has porn blocking features.
It won't work unless you are doing it to seriously go after this addiction for yourself. Nobody can make you have a porn blocker and expect it will do any for the base problem. You have to figure out why your going there in the first place and work on that. Accountability and blockers will support that effort. Alone they are useless.
Before I was serious, and as soon as I didn't have those barriers I'd go looking. I hesitate to even call it a relapse because I wasn't really sober, just frustrated that I couldn't look at what I wanted to.

  3. @Committed to One The only real app that I have any issues with is Twitter since even when I mute words or whatnot, it's so easy to type in something, find something that Twitter's settings hasn't censored, and start another MO session. An author I know uses that to message me, but I might move it to Snapchat so that I can delete the app and not be tempted to go down any more rabbit holes. I never have any issues with Snapchat and Instagram.

I might download a porn blocker app or an adult content blocker app that can help me some. I have also downloaded a podcast app, a meditation app, and a brain exercise app to help me conquer my PMO problem. I do have a strong will to do it, but the temptation is so hard to resist and I had several opportunities today, but thankfully I did not sub come to any of them. It's going to be a slow, and difficult start, but I know that I can do this.

The only two apps that I have are Facebook and LinkedIn both of which I need for my business, I realized one day that the mindset of surfing these two apps isn't a lot different than porn, I tend to only look at women's profiles so I have to be careful with. I am doing OK with them as I haven't been on a porn site for almost 150 days but I realize that that either of those two apps used improperly could lead me there.
    Netflix doesn't bother me.
