Avoiding YouTube and Movies - Please Help

I was wondering if I needed to stop watching movies and YouTube videos all together during my reboot? Triggers are everywhere. It is impossible to determine which things are okay to view on the internet and TV.

You have no idea if a triggering image of a woman will be in the video. I don't want to get dopamine boosts after seeing images, but I feel sad that I can't watch movies and videos anymore. I do not want to watch pornographic or romance videos, but I like comedy/mystery/entertainment.

Everything you see nowadays has women actors wearing revealing clothes. How long will I have to discontinue watching any type of movies and YouTube videos, 3 months, 1 year?

  2. Hey, so I have experimented with both. I used K9 in combination with other softwares to block youtube etc.

And right now, I'm trying not to block youtube at all.

My suggestion: block youtube but replace it with something, otherwise you will find yourself with nothing to do.
Keep avenues for comedy. You have have to be really good and smart in blocking websites like that because its difficult.

Rather I think you should focus your time on getting a job or something else.

There's more to say, but my heads not clear right now

  3. For me internal boundaries were key. No never naugh nein ever surf the internet mindlessly. Have a plan know what you need get in get out. Learn some new healthy way to relax and unwind. But I'd give the internet a break for atleast the first 40 days of your journey. Fight smarter not harder.

Learn the start of your relapse road and stay especially a long ways away from those sites. We all have them. Some can do one site some can not do another. But don't ever go to a site that you usually go to then get triggered and continue into your habit loop.

It's all about your mindset. Are you intentionally watching said videos and films because of the women in them? If you are wanting to avoid watching both because you are afraid you will be triggered or urged by the off chance there is an attractive or sexual female in either then you need to reframe how you view regular, normal movies. There are normal, sexual images out there EVERYWHERE (watch The 40 Year Old Virgin for a great example, haha) so you need to build your willpower so that you are not turned on by them. What do you do when you are waiting in line at the grocery store and you see those magazines with celebrities practically naked on the cover?

I can speak to this because before full-blown porn, I used nude scenes and women in suggestive clothing in movies and video games (yes, they had them, in the mid-2000s) to get off, before discovering the internet sites. American Pie was my go to for years, haha. That's part of why I believe I am having a harder time with this because I started off with p-subs.

I don't think you can block everything. You can block some things; but in the end, you have to know what you want, and why, and be very deliberate. As someone said, don't just remove something, replace it.
