Blockers Never Saved Me

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Deleted Account, Sep 22, 2018.

  1. Before we begin, let me just say that this is some advice based on my personal experiences.

I have been doing NoFap for about 4 years now. I have had varying levels of streaks. Over the past year I turned to two "blockers." One; OpenDNS Family Shield, which blocks non family friendly websites at my router. Two; Incoquito on my Android phone, which blocks Chrome from opening Incognito mode. Regardless, I feel that I have had more relapses with the blockers in place. Why? I don't know, maybe it's due to PMO being a sort of forbidden fruit when you block it. I'm not sure. I'm just trying to tell you all this; The blockers cannot be on your devices, you must block porn inside your mind. If you cannot do this, you will fail. The blockers may prolong your streak, but at some point you will find yourself with unblocked internet access and you will feel those dormant urges rise again. You have to have it in your heart that porn is not what you do!

Thank you for your time. I hope you all have a good day, and if you're thinking about looking at porn: DON'T!

I agree with you that you need to block PMO from your mind. That is the best way. When I tried blockers, since I put them on I knew the password, so that didn't work very well. Recommend if you think you need them to start, let someone else hold the password.

  3. Yes. That would be the best way, but even then there are ways around. If it's okay in your mind, you'll find a way.

I totally agree, i didn't use blockers, as you said, you have to block it inside your mind.
