I did go hard mode. I'm single though, so that wasn't really deliberate. I honestly don't know if it will have an impact on your progress. Some people actually say that it's good because exposing yourself to a real woman will rewire your brain faster. I don't know if that's true or not, but it kind of makes sense.

You can absolutely recover after 14 years. I was addicted for 15 years (25 if you count magazines before I got hold of the internet).

You just need to realize that nofap isn't some miracle cure. It's an ongoing struggle that will likely last well beyond 90 days. I'm approaching 130 days without porn, and while I'm starting to come out of a very long flatline, and brain fog / lethargy are finally clearing, the cravings to watch porn are still there, so by no means am I cured. Maybe I'll never be 'cured'. Once you know about porn you can't un-know about it. I think 10 years from now if I'd achieved a ten year streak I'll proably still have a little voice somewhere that says go and watch porn it will make you feel better. The good news is, that voice is already beginning to get quieter and less freqeunt.

As for the negative side-affects of porn addiction, such as ED, porn induced fetishes, depression, problematic sexual behaviour etc. , MOST people who successfully quit porn for the long term report drastic improvements if not full recoveries. However, a bit of common sense has to be at play. For example, if you are despressed and suffer social anxiety, just quitting porn won't fix that. You need to make other lisfestyle changes along with no porn. I think on nofap forums there is a tendancy to blame all of our problems on porn, then when after 90 days of nofap are up and we still have those problems, we say oh well, that didn't work so I may aswell keep wanking then.

So yeah, you can recover for sure. And if you really want to, you will.

This is exactly what people need to know. Nobody is ever 100% cured when it comes to addictions. It will get get easier as the years go by, yes, but the potential for relapse will always be there. I've heard stories about recovering alcoholics who were clean for 20 or 30 years and thought that it would be no big deal to have one glass of champagne at a wedding, and they ended up practically raiding the goddamn bar by the end of the night. Abstinence from whatever it is you were addicted to is a lifelong commitment; you will always have to remain vigilant.

I was severely addicted for 16-years, started nofaf hardmode and attained 4-months before mustabating once without porn, even that one was for me to check if my system is working or its dead. Lol, since then, I keep on to my streak for additional 7-months and 10-days today, a total of 340-days from start.
Though I have seen uncountable improvement in myself, I can't say I'm fully recovered because something is still happening inside my head. I.e paws, I really suffer with it for longer than expected but now its severity is fading and I'm getting myself back. The only things that I believe is that I'll/we'll oneday recover fully. Just keep on to the track and never ever go back for it'll forever be regrettable. All the best.

The first highest streak fail is the biggest challenge to overcome, took me months to get back up after my 14 days peak nofap streak relapse, eventually I got used to it now I'm in control.

Btw spent 10 years (almost 11 since I'm almost having my birthday) fapping, getting past 14 days is the first big challenge, then 1 month, then 3 months, then 6 months, by that point I'm pretty sure I'll be over it.
