Can someone tell me why I'm even here?

    So, ok ya obviously, I'm trying to stop looking at porn. And it's going well, my main goal is more to stop the P, and not so much the M O. And well, I've been going strong at that for a while now, go me! Right?

    But, what am I gaining out of this? I'm here, posting, reading, listening, learning.. and I find myself confused all the time. Ya I've stopped looking at porn, ya I understand more my triggers, and ya I understand more why I feel the compulsion, and why it's easy to get sucked into these addictive habits. But, after all that, sometimes I still just feel like looking at porn. I'm still attracted to women, you know? What am I doing? What am I trying to change? What am I trying to prove. Can I even change?

    I know that us men have evolved to want multiple sexual partners as a primal instinct for the continuation of the species. I've heard of studies where men were given porn to look at an masturbate to, and they would do it to the same porn to look at over and over, and when the researchers switched them to a different porn with a different girl, they produced better quality sperm! Fricken unbelievable.. we're all a bunch of goddam animals.

    So can anyone, I don't know, offer me some clarity? What does the 'reset' even do for us? How does it reset us? Am I supposed to go 60 days with no M O at all? Or is it 90 days? And why?

    Feeling pretty discouraged or something. I don't know.

    I don't know about you but I'm doing it because porn desensitized me to the real thing and made it hard for me to keep an erection with my girl. I'm only 26 and that shouldn't be happening. I know some people can look at it and be fine. I talked to my friend about not being able to O with my girl and staying up and guess what he said? He said and I quote "do you masturbate to porn"? I think many of us are not watching it because it messed with our brains and desensitized us to real sex. That's my reason.

    You're preventing developing worse problems later down the line, when you stop watching porn now.

    I'd say you're here because you want to stay clean, be productive towards your goals as we all do.

    In your case its prevention and also you're at an advantage in that you may not be experiencing any mental or physical dysfunction just yet.

    I'd quit PMO completely if you want to go for superpowers. MO isn't good either man as I've learnt. Excessively it can cause problems, I'm giving this advice as you haven't gone through much negative side effects of PMO just yet, or have you? You probably arent aware of it

    I guess I have a bad habit of elaborating too much. To be more specific, I really want more information about the reset itself. What is it, and what is it doing? What does it mean to reset?

    A few things happen with porn, You need to get your self over the "your brain on porn " for more details

    Porn basically gives your brain a dopamine hit, The hit you normally get when havening sexual relations, However the trouble is porn gives so much of it that the brain desensitizes itself as its going into overload, basically like any drug you need more and more to get the same high. so thats why we go for more and more novelty and extreme kinks, as that wacks up the dopamine. so eventually normal sex and normal videos do little for us as the dopamine high is so minimal

    A reset basically starves the brain of dopamine, so those brain dopamine pathways disappear, so a little dopamine feels great again. The length of time needed is different for everyone for those pathways to disappear, its between 20-300, but most commonly 90

    Basically I must say that this Forum is just like a Catalyst for your success. It is meant to learn about different things. We came to realize that we are a victim of a dirty plan forced on our society. We understood that only after reading the experiences of different people.

    Again I am saying that Its not Counting the number of days which you went without PMOing what can change your life.It is just like a path.Its obvious that you should walk through that path for getting good thoughts.

    If you are really intended to change your life in a different way than trying to control this bad habit forcefully then you must replace this habit with something productive. Each person has something which can improve his productivity in total. We must find that by ourselves. In my case reading,singing,literature and Studying can help me to improve my life conditions because i am a student and these are the things which can give me happiness.So automatically if i start doing something which i like along with NOFAP then only benefits start to appear. NOFAP work in a supportive way.

    Lemme demonstrate:
    PMO-->Temporary Joy-->Tiredness after-->No motivation(No energy to think clearly abt anything else)-->Sleep
    NOPMO-->Physical and mental Benefits-->Clarity of thoughts-->We can find what truly makes us happy( Finding your productivity)-->Life become positive--> Happiness

    This is a simple cycle that i mentioned. The main thing is to Change our attitude along with No PMOing that can only change our Life and nothing else.
