This is my point of view, I know that some feel like watching porn or masturbating out of nowhere, although this may be because of the damage of the mind or the same routine that you implanted a long time ago.

Come to the certainty that although it is not infallible I have noticed that praying or meditating on Christianity in general helps a lot to ward off thoughts that tell us something like "let's go alone this time, nothing happens to see women"

We already know that one thing leads to another and so on. So those who want extra help can resort to prayers or if they believe in their hearts to use holy water, they may think that it is useless. But I know that the impulses diminish when I pray.

  2. Might have to try holy water... get a small alter font if I ever set one up. Think i really need a focus point for my prayer, maybe on the edge of my desk. or get another small desk to set one up.

No idea how to use it though i guess just dip you fingers in and do the sign of the cross. Gone Anglican-catholic recently though don't think they do such but idk. Still might end up returning to R.C. but dislike the need to confess before holy I communion... not to a priest anyway, brought it up several times so please ignore me.

    Shall look into it though

  3. Prayer is always a great help to us. We need God's strength at every moment! May he bless you as your pursue his Son.

I came to this website and the Roman Catholic and the Christian forums looking for a helping hand to pull me out of my miserable pit of sin and, gratefully, I have found what I sought. I think that is why all of us came here and why we keep coming back. We are helping each other to grow a personal relationship with God by helping and learning from one another.

I am a Roman Catholic and I hold a deep and abiding love for what my faith has provided to me throughout my life. It is my personal choice. In the same vein, I know many devout Protestants and I deeply respect their devotion to Our Precious Lord. While I will address misinformation about my faith, I hope to ensure that I write nothing that might cause either group to harden their hearts against the other.

At the very root of it, we are all Christians, first and foremost. No one will be able to convince me to stop practicing my faith, indeed any argument against it will simply galvanize me more. I am sure many Protestants feel the same way. There is nothing to be gained by pointing out and debating the difference in our faiths in these forums. Let us focus our energy on fighting the evil one and not let him divide us so easily.

  5. @CPilot if that was directed at me that I'm sorry if I've caused and division. I'm just a bit new to being back in the faith wondering where to go what to do church wise. I do love Catholicism I'm just a tad of a coward :D.

No, sorry, I didn't wish to single you out and I sincerely apologize that my note has struck you that way. You are most welcome here, I don't wish you to feel any other way. As participants in these forums, we each acknowledge we are sinners, we each see a need to change, we admit we want to learn about Christianity and most importantly we recognize Jesus Christ as our Loving Savior. We have so many important things in common, I hope we can help each other by building on that commonality and avoid focusing on less important differences between faiths.

I have received so much by endeavoring to help others here as well as being helped by them. Let us help each other climb the mountain!
