My wife and I have been married 9 years now and just before we got married we had pre-marital counselling. My Pastor told me something that day which stuck with me since then and I wan't to share it with you today as I truly believe it might help someone.

He told me: ' If you go into this marriage with the slightest thought that if things get tough there is an escape through the back door, then your marriage is doomed to fail'

This might sound dramatic but this is so true in today's society. As soon as something gets tough we look for the escape through that back door.

This applies to your fight with PMO also. If you truly want to get free, you cannot go into this fight thinking ' Well if I relapse it's ok I can always just start over' or 'what does one more time matter'.

You need to close that back door, seal it shut, close that opening with bricks, throw away the keys do whatever it takes. If that door stays open you will always go there when things get tough.
Face that challenge head on like David faced Goliath!!!

Those who are married will know its no joke. It can get very tough but if you deal with it and get through it the rewards completely outweigh the toughness. I have not been clean of PMO for that long but can already testify that the benefits are immensely better both physically and spiritually!!

You are all in my prayers!! God bless!!

The real problem is that you can’t shut this door. If I could remove all porn from the internet for everyone I would do it without a doubt, but that’s sadly impossible and that’s what terrible with this addiction.
I can’t throw my phones and computer otherwise I don’t have a job anymore.
I told myself countless time « this is the last, no more » but always relapsed.

  3. I did exactly that for two years when I got serious about quitting PMO. I gave up a lucrative IT career and became a plumber, while supporting a wife and two children.

Saying "I can't" is usually just a way we lie to ourselves in order to keep ourselves trapped in sin. Perhaps we cannot, but God can -- and he will provide. I am praying for you and cheering you on!

The thing is, I work in a seminary. Quitting isn’t an option now.

  5. What difference does that make? If you do not have self-control in an area, Jesus is very clear on how to deal with the issue. See Matthew 5. (I think you just read this recently, right? :) )

I can’t quit like that because many people would be in deep deep troubles and I don’t think it would be the right thing to do.
I can’t live in the past, sooner or later I will be in a situation where I will have to use technology. Those last 2 weeks gave me hope. I used a lot of computers but didn’t watch any porn, so I think it’s doable.

  9. I will be praying. What do you mean that you are "like day 365"?

Let's make 2020 the year of total freedom!
