i wanted to share with you an idea that I got from a member in a different forum, now I haven't tried this yet so I don't if it's really effective or not that is why I'm posting this to see if anyone has an experience with this, and maybe give the fapstronauts here a different perspective on to go on with their journey towards a PMO free life.

The basic idea is simple, instead of downloading porn blocking programs and trying to avoid every little thing that may arouse you (which is nearly impossible in my opinion) you just face your arousal head on and you train yourself not to succumb to it and actually develop a thick skin around it. The way you do that is you intentionally arouse yourself, whether it be by fantisizing or looking at something that would turn you on (if youre not heavily addicted to porn) then what you to do is try to be mindful of the arousal, of all the bodily sensations, of the restlesness, of the thoughts trying to convince you to put your hands on your junk... you stay mindful through all of that and you don't ACT IT OUT! You're in the eye of the storm, and you realise that arousal is nothing but bodily sensations, you still have your free will, you're not a slave to it and that you're actually the one to decide whether to move that hand or not.

This would have to be done on multiple sessions weekly to train yourself, but there is quite a few things that could go wrong:
1: this technique isn't for everyone, certainly people with really bad cases that are struggling to even get past a couple weeks, ideally I think you would need a succesful reboot of at least month, but I'm just speculating here, you would have to test this to see if it's beneficial or harmful to you, everyone is different after all
2: using this technique as an excuse to watch porn and indulge your addictions even further, if you're gonna be doing this you'd have to do it with a clear mindset of "im not doing this to enjoy myself, im doing this to fight my masturbation addiction and to get a hold on myself"
3: doing it for too long, too often. watching porn is in no way beneficial to you, this is simply used as a means to an end, you have to practice this as less often and as minimally as possible to start feeling results and that you're actually developing a thick skin against arousal
4: if you're afraid that this might aggravate your addiction to porn just use your imagination instead

Tell me if you think that this could actually work or not

Not sure about intentionally arousing as a way to leave it behind, maybe so if you're strong enough, you've met it face on and said it doesn't mean anything to you. But I think at that point you are definitely ready to leave it behind, if not your theory has no weight. Could be good for some, and most definitely not for others. Having said that, I am trying to come to terms with a habit that is so self destructive and demoralizing that it seems impossible. But though that all, I have a glimmer of what you're talking about. Because I am enjoying looking at women in real life (discreetly) and not intentionally looking away and becoming a total monk like some recommend. If we are strong enough, we can see the beauty and even feel the lust for a moment (because won't it pass sooner if you're real about this) and relish that we find all things beautiful, things we once desired, we can still look at without going crazy. Don't stare, but appreciate if you want, it's part of life and beautiful women. Somehow we can get through this and keep the real benefits.

I think what might solve your problem is mindfulness my friend.
Anyhow even if you're strong enough to resist the urges and be mindful of it doesn't mean you can completely just walk away like that, because when you're doing this you'll be extra vigilant because you know you're doing intentionally for a reason and by that you train your mind in the most direct way possible in my opinion to develop resistance! Compare that to just casually stumbling on some hot stuff in the internet, sliding into zombie mode and then one thing to another leads to you relapsing.

Anyway I'm gonna try this stuff sometime soon for a while and I'll post the results, because I really think the "tough it out" approach doesn't work, mindfulness is auto-curative and I will bet myself on that.
