So here I am, I finally made an account after years of lurking on NoFap occasionally to try to deal with my addiction. Which until earlier this week I had never admitted to myself that I had a porn addiction.
Today I relapsed after just 4 days. I've done no PMOs in the past with a handful of 30-day streaks my longest streak being 90 days give or take one day. But I've always reverted back to PMO, it's like this is how I was meant to be.... But it's not who I want to be.
I'm hoping by my being active in this community it will give me the extra motivation I need in weak moments to keep progressing through this recovery.
    Thank you for your support!

Hi and welcome to the community

I would recommend you to stay in touch with members and read their success stories. You may also learn tricks to avoid the short-term pleasure and to face the temptations.

Be AWARE of your habits and control what you see and what/who you spend your time with.

It's also important to limit the usage of social media. In addition, never be free! Use your free time as much as possible and do sports, exercise, attend classes, etc.

This video contains everything that you need to know about porn addiction. Lastly, here is a collection of ways to deal with the urges which worked great for me.

֍ You got this my friend ֍

I started last weekend. I've been an addict for about 20 years. I finally admitted it last week. I had had enough.

For me, writing here has helped me tremendously I believe. I love to write, and it's always come easy for me..but that's me. I can imagine it's not the same for everyone. But..my writing here at NF helps me a LOT. Putting my thoughts to the keyboard and then onto a world-wide source empowers me I believe. I feel good about it. It's just ONE thing I do to deal with my addiction, but it's an important piece.

If someone asked me to give them one thing, just ONE THING to do...what would I say?

FOCUS. You HAVE to focus down on what you need to do and what the benefits are to YOU by beating back this addiction. Think of the BENEFITS of beating the addiction. You HAVE to focus on positive thought (visualization is key IMO), and what this life-change is going to do for you down the road. You just HAVE to believe.

If someone said to me, "I can't do it..I can't focus...I am always thinking of failure. I can't keep my mind off porn", then you have to TRY much harder. This isn't easy. There is a lot of effort involved here. I hate to say this, but I believe a lot of people probably don't realize the effort involved and they just give up too easily. I believe it MAY be easier for young guys to give up too early.....why? Because they don't have the life experience yet...the experience that tells them how devastating this addiction really is. They haven't lived it long enough yet. They don't have the stories of, "Oh My God...my wife left me...my career tanked...my sex life has been destroyed for the past 10 years....etc" Most of them aren't to that point...yet. So they just can't comprehend the damage and hell that's coming down the track. How could they? I KNOW what it's like to go hungry...to be poor. I deal with clients who are quite well off (some of them younger) and if I told them some of the hardships I've faced in my life, they would look at me like I had 4 heads. They couldn't comprehend it because they've NEVER even been remotely close to that kind of distress.

You HAVE to try. You have to be honest with yourself and TRY. Trying comes from FOCUS. Hard focus. If you feel weak, focus harder. If you don't know how, go online and research the ways to do it. There are tons of videos online (YT) showing you how to do exactly this. "Universal Man" on YT is a good reference point.

The sad fact is - a lot of people are not going to try hard enough. They'll SAY they did, but they truly didn't. They don't really know what "failure" means. They believe failure is fucking up tomorrow. That's not failure. That's a mis-step, or a stumble, or a relapse, or a fall. That's not failure. Failure is if you fuck up tomorrow and you spend literally the rest of your life fucking up every tomorrow. Now THAT'S what I would call failure. I think waaaaay too many people are convinced that falter is failure. You know why?? Because it's EASIER. You HAVE to train your brain into discounting that definition. It's not correct. It's not true.

This is what I've done. I do every day. Am I right? I guess we'll see.

When I was young, I was a drummer. I wasn't bad, actually very innovative and self-taught. Played in a band, played on stage in front of people. I stopped playing around 18 or 19. It's always been a regret, because looking back, I would have loved to have been a musician.

Why didn't I become a musician? Two reasons:

    1 - I got side-tracked and distracted
    2 - I DIDN'T TRY HARD ENOUGH

    Think about that.

  8. Hey welcome to the NoFap forum : )

It's nice to see you here fighting the good fight alongside us!

First let me go ahead and drop some helpful links for you:

Getting Started Guide / Forum Rules / How to Use the NoFap forums/ Glossary/ NoFap Panic button / Set up your day counter / Rebooting Resources/ About NoFap/ Support NoFap

    Here is just some advice:

First and foremost please take a look at each section in the forum, there might be something(s) you may find of big help to you. Feel free to post there :+)

Then secondly I just advise you to be active on your profile(as there a few active people in the profile section). Please start by choosing an avatar and then make daily status posts to show you're active and needing support/encouragement. They've also got a neat little feature that shows freshly posted statuses for all users to see. People will find your profile and give you encouragement/support.

Theres a portion of people who love communicating in the profile section..(it should be and is )mostly spportive talk but it doesn't hurt to deviate from supportive talk. It would be great to have you join in and support others in the threads, profiles, and journal. Make sure and be grateful for the help you received and give some help after receiving some. Invest in some people's journeys. We could always use your help and in return you shall receive some as well!

Thirdly, You should also highly consider creating a public journal/log (in the appropriate section for you) and write about your days in more depth for us members to follow along your journey and offer support to you by way of posting in your journal.

Last but not least: Good luck on your journey here, make sure to really give it a try with all your heart!

P.S this cant be where you start a journal. please start a journal in the reboot logs section it is linked in my welcome where I wrote “in the appropriate section for you” the word section is in blue as it’s a hyperlink and leads to the correct section for journals. :+)
