I was wondering if people who are addicted to porn have a tendency for addictive behaviour in general? And if there is maybe even scientific evidence for this assumption?

I'm addicted to porn since my early youth. I also have a problem with alcohol, nicotine and Internet addiction all since my early youth. Those are my 4 addictions that I still struggle until today. When I turned 18 I also went to casinos a lot, but stopped quickly when I realized how dangerous it is. Otherwise I'd probably have a problem with gambling too.

Do you also struggle with multiple addictions? Is porn maybe even merely a symptom of a personality that has a tendency for addictions per se? What are your thoughts?

  2. I would say yes, I have an addictive personality. But I would also say that PIED is a somewhat new addiction. People were smoking a ton until they knew it was bad and now look at it.

Can't speak for others but I personally have an addictive personality. When I find a new game I really enjoy I binge it and likely won't play anything else e.g. when TemTem came out, I managed to sink a good 50 hours in within one week (also a full time student). This is why I'm also afraid of smoking and drinking because I'm afraid I'll get addicted to it like I'm currently addicted to PMO!

  4. I had a lot of addictions: drugs, alcohol, pmo, nail biting, junk food, and more... I am sure I have an addictive personality. When you overcome an addiction, the next one is easier.

Yes cause it's dopamine which doesn't discriminate the activities if a game can give u much needed dopamine then it will be addicting the thing with pmoing is after it's done body produces prolactin to help u stop masturbating if it was not the case one would die fapping as it will be so addictive. People would be fapping 13-15 times but thats not the case. But with games no prolactin is released so an easy better addiction u can dwell for hours just like porn ruins games and food and other addictive behaviors will too ruin you. Just slowly stop reducing the activities and with porn dead stop go monk mode that's the only way. Porn is a drug treat it like that once taken will make u relapse.

I am not sure there is much truth in that. Most addictive behaviours are pushed on us by by clever marketing by linking to our basic instincts for survival, reproduction and belonging to group.

Never mind the science, what I don’t like about the saying that some people are more likely to be addicted than others is that it takes away some of the personal responsibility. We can all have the ability to change and stop our addictive behaviour. This is just sn excuse to hind behind.

Yes. If it's not P for me it's alcohol. I have gone through 30 years of phases where I was deep into both several years ago but by the literal grace of God I have reduced my drinking to 1 or 2 a week and am nearly off P.

I definitely believe they all can be connected...I myself am a recovering alcoholic/addict (8 years sober/clean) I quit smoking...and quit many other things too! I’m not new to quitting things and I’ve learned a thing or too about having a strategy for overcoming bad habits/addictions...step 1 admit you have the problem and and that it has a hold of you step 2 come to believe there’s a power greater than you that can overcome your habit step 3 surrender your will to a power greater than yourself 4 figure your issues out 5 devise a plan to fix your issues 6 action towards fixing said issues 7 acknowledge the results, taking into consideration where you’re still at fault 8 recognize where you have brought harm on others 9 make amends 10 keep taking a personal inventory of yourself including your failures and successes 11 attribute the success to your higher power and your failures to yourself 12 help others 13 remember that you’re never done on your journey and be humble enough to start all over ever continuously improving yourself 14 draw ever closer to your higher power

I would say yes. There must be a connection.
I also describe myself as a person who tends to be addicted easily to certain things.. such as M, video games, Internet, etc..
I also have a theory that sensitive people have higher rate to have any form of addiction.
