Before deciding to begin nofap, I was stunned with myself when trying to remember a specific stretch of time dating back to when I was 15/16 (32 now) when I didn't habitually look at porn.

Totally uncertain of what lies ahead. I have an active sex life with my wife, but frequently need to fantasize in my head in order to come.

Another off-putting habit is my daily morning routine of picking out a girl my sexual history in my mind, remembering one of our sexual encounters together, and re-enacting it, only fantasizing about what I would do better this time.

Not sure if and how that relates to porn, but I know it's unfair to my love and also probably just generally unhealthy.

I'm not the kind of guy who wants to hang my personal issues out to dry in front of everyone. Recently I quit smoking, which was tough, but it didn't require a supportive community. PMO, however, is another beast altogether and I know I'll need ongoing dialogue, and others to learn from.

Cheers to NoFap, and I look forward to challenging myself to be as good as I can be.

Thank you for sharing your story. Opening up is hard but remember, we have no idea who you are, who are supposed to be in real life nor do we care. Our goal is to encourage you along your journey to being a better you so welcome to NoFap where we are here to encourage you and not judge you.

Fantasizing can allow us to live out our own porn-like experience. As opposed to remembering what strangers did on a screen, we are inserting ourselves and someone we've been with into our own scene. You are correct in that it is still taking away from the experiences you are having with your wife. Since your wife and the past women are different, you are not be making intimacy better for your wife but intimacy better for those past women. The only way to make sexual intimacy better for you wife is by learning and asking what needs she has.

What are your current strategies for combating the enemy called PMO?

Thanks for the note - honest, thoughtful, sensible, and helpful. Thing is, I'm jumping into this a bit blind, with no preconceived strategies. But I fully realize that won't do. I have confidence that the first short amount of time is doable for me, but trouble will come, as well as urges, temptations, and self-trickery.

Therefore, I will learn along the way, read and share with you all, and come up with my own disciplinary practices, hit my studies hard, put more effort into my work, and most importantly, love my wife better.

Any advice on small goals and things to occupy my mind/body through first ten days would be of great use. Thanks for taking me in.
