You may or may not have very little experience, lol, because gas lighting is basically lying. It just takes it a step further. Example…. Wife” I know you’re looking at porn and masturbating” Husband “ no I haven’t, I haven’t looked since we last talked about it, I saw how much it hurt you and I love you so much, I quit. I only want you, I don’t want to risk losing you, you are all that matters to me!” Wife “ I found porn on this device” Husband “ that must be from before, that’s old, I love you so much, it wasn’t me, I haven’t done anything , I swear, I promise that’s old” Wife “ it says yesterday” Husband “ it wasn’t me, maybe your brother when he came over” Wife “ it was accessed yesterday” Husband ” I don’t know, I just know it wasn’t me, I’m so sorry you don’t trust me, why don’t you believe me?” Wife- “ because I know it was you!” Husband” you’re crazy it wasn’t me, I swear, just believe what you want, I don’t want to fight, but it wasn’t me!” That’s a pretty typical scenario. I could go on and on.
Doubtful, many pa’s don’t want to acknowledge that they do this to someone they claim to love. They all have their “ reasons” why gaslighting their SO is for the benefit of the SO. What “ they” do when they lie to their SO is to protect them because they just love them so much! Most probably don’t believe they do it. Or they minimize the impact it has on the one they are lying to.
Have you ever seen his material on gaslighting Psalm27? If not you should ask him for it. I was shocked at just how much of it there was. It was unbelievable. And it all made sense to me. And gaslighting me for my benefit? They have their reasons? They're trying to protect us? LOL that's a bunch of bullshit if there ever was any. I agree with you that they probably don't believe they do it but also turn around and claim that we do it to them. It amazes me because it's obvious they don't have the first clue what they are talking about. Once my husband learned just a little about gaslighting, he constantly accused me of it. They know just enough to get them into trouble with it.
Yeah, my husband has never accused me of it. He knows I’m always truthful even if it hurts me lol. He was shocked to understand just how much he had damaged me with it though.
