Going to 12 step meetings that are not geared to this

    How do others feel about going to just mainstream open 12 step meetings to keep the focus on recovery and ourselves? I am more an internet addict than anything. If I were asked that is what I would say.

    The value of 12 step meetings is human connections are hearing other people talk about their experience strength and hope. There are many 12 step meetings any given day. AA, Al-anon, etc.. They are a good way to get out of our own heads.

    I'm a Narcotics Anonymous member. The twelve-step program is excellent for dealing with any kind of addictive behavior. And it's not just about getting together and coming out. There's a whole plan that you can focus on working out throught the steps, much like a self-therapy kind of thing. The secret to me behind the program, however, lies in acknowledging who or what is your Higher Power. It will set you free from yourself, from your ego.
