For weeks now I try to fix this security hole. The problem is, I can enter safe mode with network connection by key F8 (Windows 7) where K9 doesn't work, is "corrupted". So it doesn't stop me when I crave for porn (it's without sound though).

Of course I googled it and I tried the following: change my registry - I have no clue of the registry but I followed the instruction and think what I changed is that K9 is now running in safe mode BUT it is still corrupted.
Re-installing in safe mode - that didn't change anything. As said before, K9 is running in safe mode I even can change the settings (with administrator password) but it doesn't block ANYTHING.
To deactivate safe mode (or the network connection in safe mode, that would be enough) doesn't seem to be possible.

So, WHAT CAN I DO? It can't be I'm the only one with this problem.
Anyone there who experienced this? Or do you know what could work in my situation?
Before I covered this security hole K9 worked perfectly well and now I'm relapsing more often than before, it's such a waste. Please help!

Oh and of course I can't fix it by securing the safe mode with admin password (which might be the solution when you want to hinder your kids to bypass K9), cause I'm the admin on my PC and I need to be it.

For now I'll try this makeshift: I obligate myself to come to the forum every time I enter safe mode and post why I did so and what I'll be doing.

I have the same problem as yourself, and discovering that K9 was disabled in safe mode was a major cause of my relapse, I dug really deep to find a solution and did all that you did even tried a number of other controls, nothing worked from this perspective, the only thing that did work is what you mentioned, that's get OpenDNS which operate in safe mode, and in order to prevent yourself from changing the DNS you switch to using a standard account locking your administrative account with a password which you can keep with someone when you need it.

When I need the administrative account to do some prolonged work, I take a promise myself that if I look up any PMO material whilst in this period, I will revert back to using a standard account for at least a month period for an extra motivation and push.

Other then this method, try find your IPv4 DHCP Server IP address and type it in your browser search bar, see if you can make DNS changes from there or if your ISP provide some sort of parental controls.

Thanks @Mastpocease but it's getting too complicate and time-consuming. I'll bite the bitter pill and make a password for the administrator that only my girlfriend will know.
Everything is good that focus my computer use to the really important stuff for the time being :)

one thing you can do so you dont have to transfer your applications and files, is simply make another adminstrative account and use its admin privileged to make your account a normal/standard account, locking the new admin one with a pass

I believe, somewhere in the BIOS, you can disable safe mode with networking. I may be wrong, but I seem to recall that. If I'm right, yes you could change the setting again top see porn, but it's a longer with around, so you'd have more time to have a word with yourself.
