In 2015 I was 350 pounds, halfway through 2016 I was 180. I'd gotten there through pure determination, but something happened. I stopped caring, since then I shot back up to 240. I started trying again about 2 months ago, and I dropped down to 220, but for about a week or two I've been hovering around 220. The motivation isn't there anymore. I noticed my mood and confidence is directly related to how I'm doing weight loss wise. If I lose I feel amazing, like I could conquer the world, but if I gain I feel like less of a human. I know how much it affects me, but for some reason that's not enough to make me break through this plateau. Has anyone else been through something like this? How do I get the motivation back?

First of all, you're not less of a human, you just got stuck in a rut. It happens to all of us at some point. It's happened to me plenty of times too. Don't beat yourself up about it.

Motivation comes and goes, so my advice to you is don't rely on it. Instead of getting motivated, get into some routines. Look at the basic stuff, such as the food you're eating or your exercise routine. If you're not exercising at all right now, you need to create a routine that you can not only take on, but also sustain. Maybe start walking for 15 minutes every day. Don't pressure yourself to do anything stupid or excessive, just do that. After you've made that into a habit, then you can add something else (which might be something as simple as only drinking water with your meals rather than sodas).

Add these tiny habits to your lifestyle on a regular basis, and soon you'll become a machine that just gets these things done, regardless of your motivation.

BTW, going from 350 to 220 is actually pretty good, so be honest with yourself. Sure, it would be great to be 180 again, but the fact that you never went back up to 350 is also a sign of progress.
