    Hey, guys,

I have posted a lot in my journals but not asked for help in these threads, so, having relapsed yesterday, my new resolution is to ask for help far more.

For the first couple of weeks of Nofap abstinence I think I experienced a surge of energy, getting up early, getting back into running and even wanting to run later in the day after having done so in the morning. I was going to the gym almost every day, too. I'm not sure what happened except that I wore myself out and I started feeling that I'd been subtly abusing myself. Whatever the reason, I've been sleepy and wanting to nap a lot recently, right up to the 60-day mark yesterday when I relapsed and today. I'm sure I've had enough sleep according to a doctor's standards. There is a lot of talk about a big boost in energy in Nofap. I'm wondering if anybody's experienced sluggishness and lethargy, and what helped you correct it. I'm looking for as many different kinds of answers as I can get, including a link to a thread where this has surely been discussed in great detail. Thanks in advance and a happy day to you!

The first two weeks you are talking about and the following period correspond to the rebalancing of testosterone in your bloodstream, which is a purely physiological phenomenon. Once it got stable, you started experiencing a lack of energy. I do not have the answer to your particular situation, but I am pretty sure the solution is to add a few changes to your lifestyle. Perhaps routines or little hacks that you can look up on productivity websites.

I'm going through this right now. I have found no cure so far, I guess just sticking to the plans you made is the best you can do. I'm looking forward for other answers in this threat to see how people deal with this.

  4. PotentLife,
While NoFap undeniably increases our energy levels - and noticeably so when we begin abstaining - for me I found that the longer my streak continued (eventually over 100 days before I finally crashed & burned last week,) the more lethargic I became. This sounds contrary to all our expectations, and I can only guess at the reasons for my increasing tiredness.
    1. I was so totally consumed with thoughts of avoiding fapping that my desire to abstain became mentally draining.
    2. As time went on, my quality of sleep became impaired as I was frequently fighting the urge to fap during the night when I would otherwise have been asleep.

I'm sure this works differently for everybody - it's not a "one size fits all" situation - but on this streak I hope to devote less energy to thinking about NoFap instead of letting it become all-consuming.
Thanks for the interesting post - it's made me think more about my own strategy and how I can maybe do things differently this time around.

First of all, congrats on your 60 days. I find it funny that Im reading this today, because i happen to be super tired and lethargic. The thing I usually do, is just read a book until im ready to sleep. However, if you are experiencing this tiredness all throughout the day, you just have to mentally fight it and do what you gotta do. If its physical tiredness, it might be because you where pushing your body too hard, and you might want to consider stepping down a bit while you gain more resistance. Also, if you have something important that day, you might want to drink some caffeine, even though I gotta tell you, caffeine addiction is probably the most common of them all! So don`t abuse it. One other thing that might lead you to be tired (this happened to me) is your eating habits, some foods require more energy to digest than others, which might be causing you to be drowsy. Experiment different foods, particularly whole plants and fruits.
Anyways, these are my tips you you, and even if they dont work, I see no harm in trying. Have a nice day and good luck.
