How are you doing brother, I think it's completely up to you. Self-honesty is important here. Do you believe you're abusing the substance? or that it has a possessive hold over you? Or do you think you're being overly harsh on yourself and obsessive? Self-compassion and patience with yourself will really help you on this journey. One of the biggest shifts for me was coming to understand that substances and personal vices are in and of themselves not the issue. What needs to change is the way that you live your life and the person that you are. So I would really recommend focusing your energy on that, rather than worrying too much about things that could be problematic, this will only perpetuate them further. Focus on your health, pick up regular exercise or a hobby. Work on nurturing your relationships with other people, take long walks, take cold showers, cultivate discipline through activities like meditation, and most importantly, help others! Good luck brother, keep striving and you'll get there!

It was one of the biggest perspective shifts for me when it clicked that I needed to grow and evolve personally in order to succeed at this. Good luck!

Good luck my friend!. About coffee and other stimulants, they could be leaning you into the vicious behavior that you are trying to avoid, but they are not definitory. Try mindfulness all day long, pay attention to your thoughts, observe every sound, image and detail that you can perceive with your senses. This is proved that can change your reality in minutes. Thats because every wave, when observed, changes into a particle. Thats why I believe (after 5 years in behavioral psycology research) that paying attention to those things that we think are part of a routine and therefore, "not a big deal", are actually a very important gear in our mind mechanisms. I'm not saying that you shouldn't get rid of coffee, if that's what you want, then you will be having another thing to fight for that will decrease your energy to fight for your main goals.

  8. Thank you. Yes, I keep focus on surroundings and inner me. I will fight coffee addiction later, first I take care of fap/porn.

A very strange thing indeed! "What you resist persists." By acknowledging something, accepting it, and focusing your attention elsewhere it diminishes in power.

  10. Coffee is a stimulant, but since I've never been a coffee drinker I have no idea how much it affects the base passions. What I know will definitely have an effect are the following:

    1. Animal products, e.g. meat and eggs, maybe butter and cheese. These have hormones from the animals that stimulate the passions.

    2. Spices, e.g. black pepper, white pepper, cayenne, cinnamon, mustard, ginger, nutmeg, etc. These irritate the bowels and bring increased blood flow to the abdominal and pelvic area with somewhat predictable results.

    3. Alcohol. This dilates the blood vessels, increases the blood pressure and temperature near the surface of the body, and simultaneously weakens the powers of judgment and decision (willpower). It is often psychologically associated with "a good time," which also can be a trigger.

As others have pointed out, however, the power of the mind to stick with a decision when something is resolutely decided is the ultimate power for change, and anything one can due to elevate the thoughts will have the best returns.
