Man, guys that say shit like that are so primitive, it is hilarious. They are the same dudes that pork fat greasy chicks because they have no control over their feelings. It is animal instinct to reproduce, not to self-gratify like a total beta. Your analogy of the dog is quite accurate, and that's good that you refuse to be like that because remember, you have intellect. It is what separates you from beasts, and even some fellow men. I'd like to take the "dog" thought one step further if I may. If your buddy is right that all urges lead to Sex and there are no feelings of compassion and intimacy, he's just explained the underlying premise of porn... Just animal instinct.

 

Well the only thing your instincts give a shit about is to reproduce. They don't care whether you're happy or not.

I'm always wary when people talk about "chemistry" in relationships. That's just a fancy word for sexual attraction - and just like every other mammal - men are attracted to pretty young women because that's an indicator of fertility, and women are attracted to brutal, cold, alpha males because that's an indicator that he can out compete other men for resources. And that works pretty well out in the jungle before there's such thing as civilization. 99% of human evolution took place prior to the existence of modern civilization so we still possess those traits. But that's all just based on what was the best strategy to reproduce. I'm more concerned with being happy than spreading my genes as widely as possible.
