Maybe we shouldn't overanalyze our addiction and instead try to get out of it "intuitively"?

  1. The only reason we PMO is because we find PMOing better than not-PMOing. So the intuition here would be to make not-PMOing better and greater for us than PMOing

Usually we start to use rational arguments like health (both mental and physical) reasons and moral or religious reasons. But we still keep coming back to PMO, we still choose to PMO because we find it somehow better than not-PMOing

An example I saw on the Internet: Let's say Mr Beast makes a video "WIN 100.000 DOLLARS IF YOU COMPLETE 30 DAYS OF NOFAP". Would we then relapse? Rather not, not-PMOing has suddenly become more attractive than PMOing

So you may think "Let's punish us if we PMO, and let's reward us if we do X days of NoFap". But sooner or later, we will think "Why not reward us whenever we want?" and we will relapse. It won't work in the long term as it's artificial, just like rationalizations and our overthinking is artificial.

So what will make not-PMOing more desirable than PMOing?

Another example: What would you rather eat: A super dry well done steak with no fat, or nothing in the first place? I would eat nothing actually, because such kind of a steak just tastes horrible. But would you like to eat a wagyu steak with bone marrow? ABSOLUTELY! Do I feel like missing out on something as I can't eat such a steak right now? Of course not, it would just be a nice experience but not detrimental to my quality of life

And I think we should look at PMO kind of like this way. PMO is our super dry well done steak, and real sex and real love is the wagyu steak.

So maybe if we will see PMO as the "cheap ripp off which sucks", we can stop PMOing, because we just don't have any good reason to PMO

Good comparison, in my own experience I've PMO'd without P, and didn't feel any guilt or shame after, just moved on with my day and I can definitely say that if you treat PMO as a form of escapism or a cheap substitute that isn't the real thing, or in my case, fulfillment and happiness it became easier to avoid it

  3. Another thing I thought about was what if we make such drastic lifestyle choices which on the one hand will better our lives and make us happier, but on the other hand will leave absolutely no room for a PMO session (so if you choose to PMO, you give up a little bit of your new amazing life)?

Then it's clear, PMO is not worth it
