While I was in graduate school, I had a very intense workload. My last year was the most intense, I had to complete my internship, which required 40 hours per week, in addition to my classes. So I can relate. I found it helpful to talk to my accountability partner on a regular basis. Talking, unfiltered, with someone you trust and that isn't going to pass judgement on you is key to daily destress. If your accountability partner isn't available, try writing in a journal or coming on nofap to record your thoughts. I must reiterate, stress can be toxic to your porn sobriety. Relapse is a process that begins long before you actually return to porn. A warning sign of a potential relapse is when you start feeling overwhelmed and exhausted. Let those feelings be a sign that you need to take a step back and focus on your wellbeing. Now would be a good time to write out a list of 5-10 calming activities that you can do when you start to experience the feeling of being overwhelmed. Good Luck! -Brandon Johnston, M.Ed

@Brandon Johnston M.Ed sort of in a different field here, just over halfway through a philosophy PhD, but my circumstances are getting pretty applicable. And time and time again—especially recently—stress has been a precursor to some pretty bad falls. I'm trying to take that advice to heart, as a therapist recently reminded me pretty emphatically (and also an old one, 3 years ago—I've had a running history of this). Thanks for your suggestions.

And Brandon Johnston i m really overwhelmed by your reply you r absolutely correct its just that my parents and teachers (of high school) told me that i still have not discovered my potential .And i would have done much better in my entrances(In India for admission to colleges we have competitive exams called joint entrances)and got a better college
i kind of realize it now its like my mind is blocked by porn they tell me that i can achieve much more so i do not want to shatter their beliefs .

  5. I am from India too. I am a medical aspirant and I feel very let down and very stupid when I relapse. Immediately after the relapse I cant study. I have to first take a bath asap so that I can quickly escape from binging. I can surely relate how difficult is it to manage your studies if you are an addict. Btw in which class are you in?
