I have been researching this subject going on about 3 years now. Specifically the effect of forced ejaculation on the body. The most obviously effected area would have to be the prostate. If you do your research you will begin finding strong links between sexual exhaustion and enlarged prostates, further more you will also see the increased likely hood of prostate cancer and lowered sperm count.

This is a debated subject but at least in my research it is almost commonsense that sexual exhaustion and enlarged prostate will be accompanied by the symptom of male pattern baldness. this is due to the well known culprit sex hormone, dht which is produced after ejaculation. In my excessive research I also found that some men have very little dht receptors in the root of their hair follicles resulting in unaffected hair. In many men who suffer from mpb they have a great deal of dht receptors in their follicles. Dht clogs tiny ventricle which feed the hair follicle resulting in a malnourished shrinking hair shaft. I myself have found a great improvement in hair health after even one week without masturbation. Also my scalp was dandruff and irritation free. I think the ties between these are very strong and I encourage research on the subjects. It is also interesting that drugs like propecia were originally designed to help control prostate enlargement and had an unexpected hair growing side effect! As many have heard one of the major side effects of propecia is lack of libido that some claim to be permanent. It is also interesting that rogain works by increasing blood flow to the scalp which in turn washes away excess dht.

Most people laugh at the subject and call the theory crazy.. I strongly suggest you research The links between these yourself and come to your own conclusion. Remember the more debate the better quality the research.

This topic is very interesting to me too, as I have Male Pattern Baldness (MPB) myself and have read a ton on DHT. I definitely think there is a link here between excess masturbation and increased DHT and hence baldness.

I started losing hair around the age of 20, which coincided with my discovery of online porn, and masturbating to it for hours. Even the practice of 'edging' for hours to porn probably creatied massive levels of DHT that washed through my system.

This is all just conjecture, but I have read quite a few studies that link it. I think there are two reasons this isn't more heavily discussed in science circles is:

    1) because admitting you masturbate a lot is embarrassing, so most balding guys never admit it to their doctors, who prescribe Propecia or Proscar.

    2) there's no 'control' group of guys who actively stop masturbating long enough to see if the baldness reverses or diminishes.

Anyway, I am hoping with my new NoFap regime that maybe I can be one of the 'test' subjects and see if there is any correlation between the two.

I'm happy to hear that someone else has arrived at the same conclusion. If people knew these were connected they couldn't sell propecia or rogain. And i agree no one wants to admit they're bald because of masturbation.

It's important to remember that it's possible only some men are effected early due to more receptors. So not all men who masturbate will loose hair early.

My hair line is definitely receded. I'm only 25. I also started losing when I was around 20. I know I can't regain what I lost but I can maintain what I have. How old are you volition? If you are under 50 there is a good chance that there will be hair loss treatments on our life time to regain what we have lost. I'm sure in your research you have come across replicel And folica. Two companies with great promise to end the problem once and for all without effecting the prostate and regrowing what was lost.

We should stay in contact to track both our success in staying off m and p and the quality of our scalp and hair.

I'm going on day 4 and the itchy dandruff dry scalp (ridden with dht) is regaining moisture and normalcy.

I agree it wont effect all men, only those genetically weak to DHT. For example, I was in the UK last year (I'm from the US) and noticed a lot more bald guys over there, compared to the US. I think the genetic pattern in the UK is less resistant to DHT. Just a theory, but interesting.

To answer your question, I'm 35 now. On the Norwood scale, I'm between a 4 and 5 right now. My hairloss has been really slow, but it happened in stages. Let me explain in a little more detail...

The first signs of hairloss was around 20 years old, and that did coincide with a BIG increase in online porn use and masturbation. I guess the big difference is in my teens, I would masturbate to orgasm in about 10 minutes (or less), but as I started to use online porn (it was only just becoming available) the masturbation/edging started to extend to 3 or more hours each night. I am imagining that the whole time I was edging, I was generating excess DHT.

I had a relationship between ages 24 and 28, so did less PMO then, although I'd still sneak it in occasionally, when I had some alone time from my girlfriend. Then when I was about 28-32 or so, I went through another heavy use phase, when I was single again. That's probably when I lost the most hair, now I think about it.

Then finally over the past two years I've been doing less PMO, but still was doing 2-3 times a week, sometimes for 3 hours or more of edging.

So that is my 'PMO history' and I can see how it does seem to correlate with hairloss! Would be good to stay in touch and see what happens as I go longer on my NoFap/no PMO streak.

By the way, if you're only 25, look into Rogaine. Although no PMO might reduce the DHT, at least Rogaine can help you revive the hairs you have that are weakened in the meantime. It really does work, if you use it consistently. The foam works better for me.

Propecia also reduces DHT, so might be another option for you, although it can lower sex drive in some people, so it's a trade off. But, who knows... no PMO might do the same things as Propecia.

I will check out Replicel and Folica as well, I hadn't heard of them before!

Question here. I'm 64 and had been PMO 5 times a week for 6 or 7 years. I have stopped cold for over 30 days and I am urinating much more that I was before. I never seem to be able to completely void my bladder and have been waking up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep.

I am a steady masterbator and have an itchy scalp with incureable dandruff (I have used all the products I could find to try to get rid of it)... I think I'm going to test the link between fapping and dry scalp. Thanks for posting this! You have givin me one more reason to give NoFap a try!

So true, after masturbating for years i've noticed hair loss and also male pattern baldness in me,i've done some research too,it seems that masturbating excessively increases the sex hormones which causes hair loss if i'm not mistaken.

Yes - agreed. I've researched this extensively and even the NHS (UK state medical service) state that there is a link between masturbation and prostate cancer. There is also evidence linking prostate cancer cases with male pattern baldness. See below for the research articles that I found on these two points.

While you are correct on this point, there's actually quite an extensive process happening in-between ejaculation and the point where hair loss happens. In short: my researched points that after ejaculation Oxytocin is released, which then accelerates the conversion of Testosterone into DHT (by 5α-reductase). As you stated, DHT blocks nutrient supply to the hair follicles, causing male hair loss.

I've found that propecia actually inhibits the process whereby 5α-reductase converts Testosterone into DHT, thus stopping hair loss in men.

I do agree with you here. I've suffered much criticism after publicly launching my blog which outright puts forward your stated theory that masturbation is the cause of hair loss in men: https://stophairloss.io and to stop balding, one must stop PMO.

Fun fact: did you know that eunuchs do not go bald?
