Hi to all - yesterday I reached my first target of 30 days PMO, but well aware tat there is a long way to go in my recovery yet (still very much in a state of flatline)

I ended up trying out M & O to see how it all felt - I focused as much as possible on using my imagination and not thinking about the porn or the 'interests' that used to turn me on. The whole experience is still miles away from what it should be but...

What are peoples thoughts about trying to re-adjust your mind by M&O'ing whilst continuing with PMO?

Has anyone found it has helped the recovery, or hindered?

  2. for me i get super tired, lazy and lose any benefits from abstaining from pornography and masturbation even if i don't use porn. The dopamine headaches happen and i lose the testosterone gains. My gym lifts become weak, i become depressed and ultimately go back to using pornography as a substitute for real intimacy with a breathing person. Simply put it's just not worth it unless it's someone else doing it for you in which case that's actually encouraged.

If you masturbate while thinking of porn, you are just reinforcing old pathways in your brain, i. e. You are making your addiction stronger. On the other hand, if you can orgasm without any pornographic thoughts, you probably aren't addicted in the first place.

"MO without P" won't get you anywhere if you think you are an addict. I know it's harsh, but that's just my honest opinion.

I agree with ds112358. Right now I'm doing 45 days of no P and it's not as challenging as when I did 30,35,and 39 days of no PMO. For me, I'm just really stressed out with school, work, and other shit going on. So, basically I'm not motivated right now. If I can get through 45 days of no P that's great, but it's not as meaningful as no PMO for 45 days. It's like going 50% when I should go 100% if I really wanted to beat this addiction. I don't think your strategy or mine is effective at all. Sooner or later I'm going back to no PMO only. And so should you.

Stay away from fantasy, the same spikes get triggered.

I learned the hard way, I thought it was fine and dandy to be porn free but still masturbate to fantasy. Same issues persisted. Social anxiety, depression, etc.

Eventually, I know I would have finally ended up viewing porn. It's just the bodies natural progression.

Basically, if you're a newbie to this you might set a goal of no Porn for a month but MO is OK. That's great to get you started but eventually it's the whole trifecta of evil you want to avoid ... P and M and O.

Those will yield the best results ta.

I think tweeby and the others are right...it is no good idea to try and do no P but still do MO...I tried it and it didn't really work for me as I come back to P when I do that...you should try to do the 100%...even if it is extremely hard sometimes...

Thanks one and all for the responses. Mostly reinforcing my thoughts. Already (as mentioned) I feel like i've lost the testosterone boost that I had. Whilst I wasn't really tapping to any fantasy stuff, the orgasm was almost no existent, and I had a slight feeling of disappointment. But the main goal of no PMO is still very much on the cards. And having discovered that 30 days was not long enough to make MO enjoyable, I will persevere with cutting out all 3!
