Hey guys, Recently I've noticed there are quite a few movies out there about sex addiction/pornography addiction From the top of my mind I can think of - Shame (2011)starring,Carey Mulligan, Michael Fassbender - Thanks for Sharing (2013) starring Gwyneth Paltrow,Mark Ruffalom, P!nk - Don Jon (2013)starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Scarlett Johansson, Julianne Moore I guess these issues are slowly coming to light of society. Have you guys seen any of them? Do they give you any feedback or advice towards your own struggles and matters? Honestly I do think sex addiction/pornography addiction is becoming more and more pervasive in today's society and it seems to be the taboo topic that everyone keeps under covers. When in fact, the science and hard evidence shows its as bad and common for our brains many other addictions out there. Do these movies provide a voice and shed light to such issues? Would love to hear your comments!
Although I haven't watched it, I heard that the movie "Don Jon (2013)" with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Scarlett Johansson is also about a guy who is more into porn than real life girls.
Shame looks like a movie that can trigger some urges. Also IMDb has a list of movies and series with the ''Pornography Addict'' theme.Here.
GREAT STUFF!! thanks I can only suggest Bliss (1997) related to the subject of why you need not to ejaculate also sexual problems
Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit. There are great analyses online of the one ring to rule them all being compared to PMO addiction.
Shame is a great story about a guy so deep into sexual deviancy that he can't really escape. Sound familiar? However, it's basically like watching porn. It's rated NC-17 for a reason. If you have even a minor porn problem, I wouldn't suggest watching it. It's not "hot", but it's still basically porn. I'm a movie buff, but I haven't seen Thanks for Sharing or Don Jon yet, but I might. If there are red flags, I'll post something. But MrShuggums, you're right. 40 Days and 40 Nights is basically our journey - but not necessarily for the same reasons...
Shame was an extremely provocative and touching movie and while I see the need to red flag it for those combatting the urges, it should be prescribed to any relapser as mandatory watching after every false step. I'm thinking about buying the DVD just for this purpose. Also, while watching it as somehow now committed to a NoFap I did not feel any urge to fap after watching it as the narrative pretty much makes you feel too guilty of the task - on the other hand you should definitely watch in one sitting, as pausing throughout the movie might make a relapse more likely with the sexual content here and there.
I watched shame yesterday. I think I did not get the point, but the black chick made me fking horny. I don't recommend for beginner fapstronauts.
i thoroughly enjoyed don jon. i couldnt relate to the playboy type joseph gordon levitt was playing and if i had to choose between porn and scar jo.. i mean cmon, its scar jo..
I was thinking of filming a short film, maybe either a superhuman themed movie about transmutation or a transformation of an addict.
