After a few months of questioning everything I've been taught to believe from my parents, peers, the media and an economy fueled by consumer consumption, I am a totally new, and porn-free, person. I am sober and celibate. I am now setting goals for myself that I previously would have thought were crazy. I am going to run a marathon on May 6th, and I am going to apply for the Peace Corps. If I am accepted by the Peace Corps, I will be serving in another country for 2 years.

I ran through the same cycle, over and over again. I grew up watching porn on the Internet. Only a few years ago did I begin to think that there was anything wrong with it. I would go on a porn binge for a few days, hardly concentrating on anything else but following every whim of sexual fantasy I could think of with the Internet. There exists a virtually limitless amount of free porn on the Internet and more is being created every day. I guess I thought I could keep up with it. I wanted to watch all of it.

After a few days of embarrassing myself I would decide I am really going to kick the habit for good, watch a few motivational videos on YouTube, browse NoFap and pretend I am doing the world a favor. For two years I have been doing this! But this time is different. I can see the people I have affected because of my selfishness. There is still a loneliness I can feel that I know is a result of a long-term porn addiction. But I know that loneliness won't last forever. Deep down in the chambers of my heart is a low voice that says, "it's time to quit".

This time, I have the wisdom to know that that voice is a good voice, one worthy to follow. This has been one of the most difficult challenges of my entire life, and trust me, I've been through challenges. This has changed me biologically. I think differently, I respond differently, and I make decisions confidently and with my own will, not anyone else's. I implore you to look inside yourself and investigate what you are made of. What is your purpose in this life?

I am on day 57 and I can and will go the rest of my life without ever watching pornography ever again. Thank you.

This is the worst to deal with. But forgive yourself and move on.
