I would like to ask what kind of hobbies or new passions people have been adopting since quitting PMO? I am currently brushing up on my Spanish each day with the intent to go to Spain and maybe work or live there. I let my porn problems ruin my learning the guitar. I used to play classical guitar music, but my mind was not on learning music, but on porn or looking at girls. I quit recently and hope to relearn with a clear mind. So anyone do anything with their time away from porn?
Funnily enough, I'm picking up where I left off on guitar... At least one song a week! Neglected it for too long. ...the rest I will figure out in time!
I did the calculations on how much time I wasted watching porn. Here's what I came up with. Two hours a day equals 730 hours. If we divide that by eight that equals 91.25 workdays in one year wasted on porn. Post thinking about this before I started the abstinence and realize my potential. I started lots of goals and dreams but all failed because my focus was into something else. Something sinister which was taking all of my energy and time. So now that I'm in recovery here's what I'm doing. I used away 178 pounds with a 30% body fat. I am 5-7and yes I was overweight. Now I weigh 165 with 24% body fat. I work out 5 to 6 days a week. I have a personal trainer who I see one to twice a week depending on my schedule. I also go to my gym to work out and kill the stress. The stress of work, of my addiction, loneliness, rejection, and everything else. I used to eat really bad. Whenever I was hungry I would stop at the closest restaurant, fast food that is, to fill my mouth up. I have changed I totally. I hardly eat out anymore. I cook a lot and eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. When I go out I take my lunch box with me to have carrots, apples, beef jerky, almonds, or anything else that is healthy and when I get hungry I can eat instead of eating food that is not good for me. I have been reading a lot. I just finished the book by Wayne Dyer. I'm also on this site about two hours today, reading other people's writings and commenting and liking their stuff. I have moved to a new place and I have a lot of crap that I haven't used in a while so I will go through and see what works and what I have to donate. I'm also looking at my writings in the past. Some date back as far as 2006. My goals, my dreams, and my life. I'm in the process of starting at different business venture and leaving this one behind. It's kind of scary but at the same time I'm looking forward to the change in the new life. Guys when I don't have to think about porn 24 hours a day I can think about becoming a better person, helping others, and planning my future. This morning I checked I'm on day eight and I'm very proud of myself. I think one day 10 I will have some kind of celebration. Maybe eat a juicy steak or something like that. Thank you for reading my post
I cannot say that I developed any new hobbies, but instead I am now able to spend more time on them. I also started to convert some of my hobbies to a more social context. For example, I started giving guitar lessons instead of just practicing for myself. It's really helpful to have people around me and I get a feeling of accomplishment from their progress.
I've started learning programming in C# and learning to make video games using the Unity3D engine. I lost my job recently, so I now have a lot more time to do actually do projects. Even just doing the tutorials on the Unity website occupies my time much more productively than spending hours PMO'ing like I would have used to.
Great to hear improvement in so many fapstronauts here. Porn has really distracted us in so many ways. We need to acquire skills to make our lives more enriched. So inspiring. Guitar, yoga, running, programming, and socializing are way more beneficial to mankind than porn.
yes, I've been trying to keep my mind and hands busy; learnt how to make bread, learning a new language, planning on yoga next. Also, more importantly trying to focus on my relationship more.
Im very happy to share ideas about it;let me know. I've been making bread for several years now; it's more satisfying than other non skills.
oui c'est vrais, il est mais j'ne suis pas. But your Yoga, guitar and running; this shows a determined focus.
I learned programming and still doing online courses from coursera and edx. I am in love with Python.
I've been doing online courses. I also know the four programming languages(R,Python,MATLAB, and Julia) for my Bioinformatics expertise
Tell me more about your experience with online courses. Which ones are you taking/have taken and what is your approach and study technique? How have they compared to other learning techniques? Are you planning to go the whole computer science route or just pick portions specific to your discipline?
I've started swimming everyday, I hope to be an underwater welder after high school so I'm focusing on that, and dating, I'm trying to go on dates more so I can get to know real people, and besides, 16 year olds are supposed to date so I might as well get back out there.
Go do something that involve many people like team games. I like to play soccer because it is part of a social life. Traveling is also nice. You don't have to go far actually. Just go somewhere you can that you have never been there, or you can go to places you spent your time during your childhood.
