So, this may seem cheesy, but it's stopped me from relapsing a few times. It's also stopped me from other compulsive decisions like wanting to order and eat an entire pizza or blow off work I needed to get done in order to be idle. You may give me a good teasing for this, but I keep a laminated picture of Mr. Rogers in my pocket. To me he is the ultimate in self-control and in being kind to not only others, but yourself. I'm curious to know if anyone else has done anything similar with putting pictures on the wall of role models to inspire them or give encouragement.
That's cool man, we should use whatever is of benefit. I watch some inspiration on youtube daily, from Infitine Waters, and Gabriel Kalei Bocanegra. Those 2 dudes have been such a huge inspiration to me, my life has totally changed compared to a year ago. Grtz
I am going to have to check those out! I listen to inspiring podcasts and they help a lot. A friend of mine who is a recovering alcoholic has a picture of Bill Murray on the wall. Not that Bill Murray is against drinking, but he told me Bill makes him smile. It's actually helped him.
This video helped me understand that being myself (not changing for anybody in certain situations, moments, or instances, etc). was one of the most important things keeping me from enjoying life as much as I could. Especially the Bruce Lee part.
Grant Cardone - addiction/work motivation, Gary Vaynerchuk - good life morals/views/work motivation and Seth Alexander - nofap/views/life/porn. Look at there stuff mostly on youtube.
Everybody, I'm glad you all added. I was feeling triggered and then came on here. Immediately the feeling of community pushed me away from anything detrimental.
I have a wall full of inspirational quotes, sayings, pictures, drawings. And also a journal that I write in. I read the wall and book everday. You should try it also. You can put anything that inspires you/makes you happy.
I like watching anime, so I get a lot of "believe in yourself" quotes from various sources. So, unfortunately I don't have any real lie inspiration, but I have computer and phone screens of Vegeta (Dragon Ball Z) and Kamina (Gurren Lagann) that I look at constantly whenever I need a boost in motivation
