PMO keeps sneaking up through fetishes

    I have serious triggers that are not even sexual in nature, and I like them for reasons more than sexual. But this constantly means I'm not noticing these things are leading me to PMO eventually, and always. It's a terrible habit of mine to be dwelling on these things and getting horny over it, while at the same time getting horny completely overrides my ability to think straight and pull myself out before it's too late. Any advice on cutting off this hand that leads me to sin, especially when it's such a normal part of the area I live in?

    The easiest way would be to avoid or cut out those triggers either entirely of long enough to allow your brain to return to normal. However, it sounds like this might not be possible. If that is the case then knowing they are triggers to your PMO is a great start. Be aware of the triggers and map out a plan ahead of time on how to deal with them before you get into trouble. I know a guy who carries a small index card with his "fire drill' instruction on them. My guess from your word selection is that there might be some room in the "dwelling on these things" that you can change to go another way. Think about it always keeping in mind that if your goal is to quit PMO, is the path you are taking the best one? The first step in changing unwanted/unhealthy behaviors is awareness.

    A tool I use when I slip is to trace back my thoughts and actions to find out where I could have done something different. This has helped me find that there are cycles and rituals to my PMO addition and that if I do a few things differently I'm not sucked into the ritual or cycle. The trick is finding and doing that action before you sucked in so the sooner you make the break the better.
