Porn blockers

    Hello community,

I'm looking for some kind of smart software which might help me to effectively block access to specific websites both on my smart phone and laptop. Some kind of sotware which will make it impossible for me to reach the particular website for some time period..24 hours or more. Software which is kind of bulletproof and can not be uninstalled either without waiting for 24 hours or more.

I need to buy time and press the pause button when things get crazy.

Also, feel free to share your experience on what works and what doesn't. Your feedback is very much appreciated.

Thank You and have a great day.

Hi Kierann, I reccomend Blocksi extension for web browsers. You can set a password in order to disable any changes, that is what I am doing. Hide the password somewhere or give it to someone so you will not get it when you get an urge.
On a mobile device I am using xBlock, you can download it from the App store. That one pairs well with screen time and also works with a password protection. That is the only way I was able to block P on all my devices.

Thanks for the advice, friend. About that extension for web browser that you recommend, couldn't I possibly bypass it by downloading another browser and thus getting to what I want to see anyway?

Btw. stay here even after you successfully finish your no nut november challenge. There is whole new world waiting for you, there is so much more. :)

First, posts like this are helpful. Second, I advise against sharing ways to get around a blocker. Even if it’s helpful in discussion, it may give ideas to other people.

For me I’m on iOS and I use parental controls and only allowed websites, which my wife has passcode for.

On computer, I use Forticlient and Covenant Eye. Neither are bulletproof, but they have been hardened and honed and they catch a lot of things.

You need to get over blockers and you will eventually do it if you stay on this path long enough.

There's nothing wrong with having the intention to experience a healthy internet but its practically impossible. No matter how much you try there will always be a way to bypass.

Find your vision of doing nofap. Develop your own motive. When you have sight of why youre on this path then it will automatically save you from wrongs.

THIS. There is always a way around. I find the blockers as a good obstacle in order to make it harder for me to reach what I do not want to reach. I wish there was a perfect blocker that would block everything with a press of a button, but I haven’t found any.

I never really followed the reasoning behind restricting yourself the access to the drug of your choice. I felt that you can win over your addiction only when you simply start to want to abstain more than you want to get the quick fix, that it is the only sustainable way how to go about this.
I still might be right about that but it might not be the only way nor the necessary way.

I gave up couple of addictions before and smoking was the hardest one. When I was trying to stop, I was carrying a box of cigarettes on me at all times to remind myself that I have a choice, that I'm doing it because I want to do it, because I can do it. Even at home there were still big supplies of cigarettes.

And I made it. And I have been free for almost two years. Even though I still smoke my cigars when I drink alcohol ( once or twice a month), I'm not triggerred into smoking next day. The urges are not there. I'm not addicted anymore.

And yet the thing is that when you're trying to stop smoking you can have the cigarettes on you and there are no rehabs where you would have to be locked up and be under constant supervision.

But PMO is completely different level. PMO is as addictive as heroine. And when you're heroine addict trying to stop, you're not walking with heroine in your pocket, are you? So after two and half years on my nofap journey with all its ups and downs, porn blockers might bea smart extension to anybody's nofap strategy.

It's that single peek, a single moment of weakness which screws it all up for me. I've got only one smart phone and one laptop. In my lifestyle there is no other access point.

So just like that I reconsidered all the self-binding thing. I realised that if I could find the right software/ the right porn blockers to buy myself some time at that moment of weakness, like pressing the pause button and lose access to specific websites let's say for 24 or 48 hours, it could very much help to me on my nofap journey. It could be game-changer. I don't really have any other way of access to the internet.

So currently I'm researching the software possibilities, looking for the most bulletproof application which won't even let me uninstall it or bypass it in any other way.

I'm not looking for any filters to avoid potentially triggering content on the internet. Life is not safe, internet is not safe. I'm perfectly alright with that.

I'm searching only porn blockers to help me in the moment of weakness when already highly addictive chemicals are taking over my reasoning looking forward to the familiar moment of bliss, dissolving my resolve in the cosmic dust.

Two days ago after testing number of applications I installed Cold Turkey on my computer and I wasn't able to hack it or bypass it in any way. I'm very satisfied with that. Now I'm looking for something like that for my cell phone - app that won't even let me uninstall it. :)

  10. I have extensive experience with this and i dont have good news.
I am the most ultra hardcore addict, currently 20 days clean, you will only disappoint yourself when you will bypass and feel it like a waste of time.
My PC is completely blocked but at a big cost. And if i do a quick research i am sure i can bypass every measure.
I use quostudio, i blocked manually over 400 websites, including some dark web links, took me like some hours. I blocked task manager, registry tools, i made my own chrome extension to block google images since i know too much, i can simply find the images without going to the sites, even if is not porn, its still a gateway and losing control, i blocked some policies, and i made sure i dont have the rights to bypass policies or registry via shells. I fought this by reinstalling the windows a few times and i achieved my goal, to make porn expensive to reach, a lot of extra steps to write an url which i dont wanna do. I am sure i can bypass quostudio without reinstalling windows but i gave up researching.

On the phone is impossible, you have to completely wreck it, to even block the dialler and preferably apps that block the settings and cannot be removed without password, yet it can be bypassed.
If the phone is not blocked, your pc isnt blocked. Phone is impossible to be blocked and easy to factory reset.

I will suggest you to get an emotional drive like a bulldozer, find a meaning for your life and fight like is no tomorrow, blockers are a trench war, nobody wins.
I think for PC is worth blocking just to make it expensive but keep that smartphone away cause no app can stand against a compulsive addict

Net Nanny. It's pricey but out of all the ones I tested it made the most sense for me. I made a list from the best of lists you get, and worked my way down.

I've now been using it for 3 years. Don't let my counter fool you. My relapses were possible because i had memorised the password to bypass it. It works well when I respect it.

I use it as a last resort as part of my arsenal.

The main features for me are:
    • Ability to block search terms as short as two letters. Most have a predetermined list which wasn't helpful for my circumstances.
    • Block/allow certain websites. For me this includes certain shops and timewasting apps. This reduces certain temptations.
    • Internet or device pause on schedule. I used to sit on my laptop till the small hours but now that's just not an option. On a friday it pauses at the "late" hour of 11.30, at which point i'm forced to do something else. Internet pauses on my phone at 10.30. This helps me get enough sleep, which helps me enjoy life and fight temptations when they come. Likewise it comes on again at 7am, which helps me in the mornings.
    • Different profile settings. Some websites are allowed on my laptop that i don't allow on my phone. That's because if I'm on my laptop I'm there to work and so there's fewer associations there. I also have time wasting websites blocked too.
It really isn't perfect. It doesn't block everything. I have to be wise with Youtube, but I tend to go on the tv for that. I've also been able to download unhelpful apps. But then net nanny has allowed me to block those for future use.

I am also not very tech smart, so i can't even think of how to go about bypassing it other than uninstalling the app. I have tried to do so. It was a pain to do. Likewise i had memorised the password. I have changed it and is now in a hard to reach place and completely unguesable. This says more about me than net nanny.

When I first started using site blockers, they didn't do much because they were very easy to bypass.

What worked for me is installing a ton of site blockers all blocking the same websites because bypassing went from 5 seconds to 60s +

It's about adding as much friction as possible

I've found the right blocker even for my phone. It's called BlockerHero. But eventually I've turned around completely and I decided to keep those blockers only till the end of this year to help me familiarize myself a bit with the new level of urges.

But it can't be a lifestyle. That would be like running away, like avoidance. We are supposed to face the urges and only by facing it we can learn how to rise above them and defeat them.

I myself am surprised with this development. I've thought about it hard for a couple of days. I think that porn blockers would work for me since I am no MacGyver and wouldn't be able to bypass them. I really think that I wouldn't relapse with porn as long as I have them.

But at the same time they would be making me more vulnerable in the long run. By living like that I would be only reinforcing the feeling that I'm not able to face the urges. It feels like running away from life. Then you get for example smart tv with its own browser and I can see myself relapsing hard.

No no, living in the bulletproof bubble is not the life I picture for myself. We are supposed to face the urges an making choices. There is no other way, no shortcut.

It is right there at the crossroad when you are standing naked and hungry in the rain, making choices that define you, where the biggest progress always happens. I should have known better. So only till The New Year and that's it.

On the other hand, the porn blockers could be useful to me if I activate them always right after relapse, right after the first ejaculation to minimize the damage and also to help me through the first month or two.

It's kind of cool to know that I'm unable to access porn even if I wanted but like I said before it's not good enough. There's a difference between not engaging in PMO and being free of PMO.

I've been using pluckeye and I'm very impressed with it. As others have said blockers are usually easy to bypass. I thought cold turkey was great at first but pretty easy to uninstall. After a few relapses and back and forth fights with myself setting up then uninstalling blockers I think I (the me that doesn't want to fap lol) finally won.

So this time I've installed pluckeye again and set it up to block the usual sites with a gigantic delay. I blocked safe mode on my laptop and prevented access to the registry. I then created another administrator user on my laptop with a crazy long password and using that set my main profile to a standard user so I can't do a factory reset. Then I deleted the password for the admin user. Pretty nuclear option but I genuinely can't think of how to bypass this. Please don't make any suggestions if you know how!!

The only issue is that I could still access porn on my android phone far too easily but the laptop has always been my main issue. And for some reason I've never fapped to my tiny phone screen lol.

I just seriously wish there was an easy way to block safe mode on an android phone incase that tiny screen starts to seem appealing :-(
