    Hi Guys,

I'm new here so sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

    I'm really struggling with porn.

I can manage to avoid it for about 12 days at a time but always seem to come back to it when I'm bored and lonely at the weekends.

Is there any way of reliably blocking porn as everything I've tried I've found a way round in about 5 minutes with a google search.

K9 web protection all the way. Block youtube as well. Make a random long password and give it to someone else. Good luck!

i tried k9 and found it really slowed everything down,

I also suspect I could bypass it in a bout 5 minutes

Open DNS, Cold Turkey software, Net Nanny, STOP PORN on softpedia.com are other alternatives.

i've already got around cold turkey,
i'll have a look at the others but suspect it would be just as easy

K9 really works for me. I used to be able to get around it, but I tweaked the settings some, and it got tougher. There is still one streaming site that it doesn't block, but cutting out the two biggest ones has been a big help. And my settings are fairly customized, it probably would block that one too with stricter settings.

to be honest I think for porn blocking to work it has to happen at the hardware level
at the moment all porn blockers are at the application level at that's just to easy to get around

i've even got around my isp providers filtering,

there are porn blocking routers which I will investigate

  10. If you are starting to look for ways how to bypass the software, then you have already lost.

There is a mindset factor in NoFap for me.

Part of the mindset is that you will not be looking for porn.

What can happen is that some webpage with naked girls pops up to throw you off.

    For that K9 is perfect.

Additionally, when I feel weak, I use self control.app which will allow me to go just to this forum. (It works for up-to 24 hours)

    It does blacklisting/whitelisting.

Note that there is no contents-blocker provider which can block all the triggers out of your life.

I have tried to run it longtime (6 months) but there are simply some pages you want to visit and it will backfire.

Now, it is essential for me to decide every day that I will stay clean.

I agree and disagree, before the internet I did not have a porn problem.

If I was an alcoholic it would be a lot harder to give up if there was a bottle of whiskey next to my bed and if I threw that bottle away it would magically reappear. That is the situation we are in with porn. I have been unsuccessfully trying to eliminate porn from my life for about three years and average 12 days clean before relapsing, going into a shame cycle and managing another 12days no porn/NoFap.

I'm currently looking at blocking porn at the router using open dns, if this works I can set an unrememberable password and block porn from my home. Then the only problem will be lonely hotel rooms on business trips but they are relatively rare.

I thought the same actually. Remove the porn factor and one is cured right...

Actually, I have done it. For last 6 months.

I have done 159 days being clean of porn prior to that (took every day conscious decision to stay clean).

After I relapsed from that 159 days, I was like "ok, let' remove the porn from my life once and for all"

I have been relapsing for those last 6 months. (every 6th day in average)

Simply because there is no perfect porn blocker. I mean, you can block porn, but how about p2p. Will you block it all together...? How about youtube, hmm?

So for me, it always comes down to the choice... You need to make a choice every single day to stay clean.

    Consider the following scenario:

You come to your home town and you have a friend. He is like "Man, do you know this girl, she runned away from home and made some porn tapes, do you want to see"

And before I could do anything, he started to play that bloody video...

You see, life is life and when addicted, you cannot shift the responsibility to something/someone else.

Sorry for be so brutally honest but I went this path and it have not worked for me. Maybe, it will work for you though. (everyone is different, right?)

Part of the problem with quitting porn is definitely the easy access. Even smoking cigarettes requires that you go to the store, spend money, and interact with people. All of those things should give you time to reconsider your relapse. For porn, there is practically no barrier to a moment of weakness, so you have to fight that much harder and stay vigilant.

anything we can do to put time, money and energy between us and viewing porn can only help

if we had to drive across town and pay to watch porn in a semen stinking cinema full of masturbating weirdos how many of us would actually watch porn.

hopefully my plan to set up a router with open dns and throw away the password will put a significant barrier between me and porn
