Recent Relapses

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by LifeTransformation2017, Nov 29, 2014.

  1. In the past 4 days I've relapsed 6 times. On Sunday I relapsed and came up with a new plan for NoFap. That plan was to go 37 days without masturbating and watching porn until December 31st. That's when I would PMO for the last time. Then I would start the new year off fresh and never PMO again. I had a good start by going without porn/masturbation on Monday and Tuesday. However Wednesday morning before school I got a huge urge to PMO. It was probably the strongest urge I've ever gotten. Unfortunately I gave in to that urge. Then I relapsed again after school. Thursday was Thanksgiving and I relapsed in the morning. Yesterday I kept busy and didn't PMO. This morning I woke up with huge urge and PMOed 3 times. I've been really frustrated and disappointed in myself. I wanted to enjoy my Thanksgiving weekend, but I ruined it. Can anyone tell me how to resist these huge urges I get. Sometimes it seems impossible to resist these huge urges. I've been dealing with a lot of anxiety lately. One problem I've had is salivating. In times of high anxiety or when I'm in uncomfortable social situations my saliva production increases. I think this happens because of my social anxiety. Has anyone ever had this problem and do know how to solve it? I've also been dealing with discomfort in my crotch caused be my pants? Does anyone have any solutions for this? Any help is greatly appreciated. Since I relapsed I'm going to start a new end of the year challenge. This time it will be 32 days. I'm going to try to resist any urges I get and go the 32 days without relapsing. Wish me luck! If you have answers to my questions or have advice for me please leave it below.

    Allergic to Average

I'm sorry to say this Kylester18, but after reading your thread "End of Year Challenge" and now reading this updated version, I am not surprised by your recent relapses. Why? Because whether you like or not you are not taking this nofap challenge seriously enough.

You say that you are going to start a new end of year challenge of 32 days. You may have said that now, but have you committed to it? Have you said in your mind that you will do everything within your power to stop yourself from giving in to urges (no matter how strong) throughout those 32 days?

One thing struck me in your end of year challenge thread. Your mindset is average. You said in your End of Year Challenge thread that you will try to resist urges but you won't beat yourself up if you relapse. To me, that sounds like you are setting yourself up to relapse. You have to make yourself allergic to average. Nofap is not the sort of thing you can put off. It's not the sort of challenge you can make a half hearted attempt at. You have to go all in. It's all or nothing. With an addiction as strong as PMO, the only way to succeed in my opinion is to completely change the definition of your life, and to do this you must change your mindset!

Urges are tough. I have had very strong urges like you. Sometimes the strength of the urge makes it seem impossible to carry on. Except that's a lie- because it is possible to carry on, and we must carry on! I have no secret method of overcoming urges. Sometimes you when you are hit with a strong urge you just have to outlast it.

Watch this video: It's really helpful. "I might not have been smarter, I might not have been stronger but I made up in my mind I'm going to get through this" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3MxMfzWfbE

If you can change your mindset, I will wish you luck. But in reality, luck has nothing to do with it. At nofap we have to be allergic to average, but there is no reason why you can't succeed at this, you just have to find it in yourself. Because there is NOTHING average about you!

  3. I have always taken NoFap seriously and I always will. After relapsing this weekend I said I was frustrated and disappointed in myself. Does that sound like someone who's not taking NoFap seriously. You just assumed I'm not taking it seriously.

Hey man, it is difficult for anyone to engage with you because you do not stick around. Often you come here infrequently, post something and then disappear again. You seldom acknowledge any specific advice that is offered. So, sometimes, all people can do - who are trying to help you (like NoBrainer), is to make an assumption. Try and come on here and interact more.

This is the reason I believe you are not taking this challenge seriously enough.

As to your saliva problem, I can't help sorry. But the pain in your groin sounds like a withdrawal symptom. Outlast it and it should go away. If not, maybe consult your doctor.
