So I finally started a spreadsheet...

Real quick, I'll explain why I'm using a spreadsheet now.
I used to see the official Day Counter as the only thing that ought to matter in recovery from porn addiction, and I had gone more than 600 days clean, without needing to (dun dun DUN) *Update Day Counter.*

However, after I did relapse from that streak about a year and a half ago, I partially recovered and then went into a more complex struggle. As my body acclimated to the trend of lower stimulation for longer stretches, it became far easier to reach orgasm even without stimulation.

I pridefully relied so much on the Day Counter--my only record of progress--that I didn't feel like it was fair to have to go ahead and set it back to zero, because I often hadn't even looked at something which involved nudity and hadn't used any stimulation.

After about a year like that, I reset a couple times when I probably should have done several more, and I had no clear idea what my progress even was. Thus, my wonderful new spreadsheet!

This spreadsheet I designed helps track real progress in a couple ways the (still useful) Day Counter doesn't.
    • Every day clean remains visible no matter how many times I have to reset.
    • It counts in fractions of a full reset, and sums them up over time.
    • It allows me to estimate based on current trends how long my existing streak will last
    • The estimated streak length provides motivation for me to push all the harder against committing those fractions of a reset to avoid ticking up to a full reset.
In a bit more detail, I assigned values to different harmful activities.
    • PMO is defined as 1
    • MO to p-subs or whatever is 0.8
    • Reaching O from only viewing p-subs 0.5
    • Seeking out material I know causes lust is 0.05
    • Finally, intentionally looking and lusting is 0.01, so doing that 100 times amounts to a "reset"
Now this spreadsheet tracks my progress over the course of any timespan. Due to a partial reset and a few small fractions of resets since January, I'm currently at 0.86 for the year, and plan to avoid crossing that bridge by God's grace.

I may also integrate a mercy period, where only fractional resets within the past 100 days are counted into the final sum. In any case, I hope this may help some of you in your progress.
