I'm 40, which feels like a crazy thing to say, as the last 15 years or so have sped by, largely because of what seems from here like a severe PMO addiction that's been an on-and-off problem since age twelve or so. When I was in my twenties, I was an extraordinarily driven person who overcame poverty, abuse, and drug and alcohol addiction to come close to the top of success in an artistic field. Fast forward to present, and like many people here it seems, I've organized my life so I don't have to work outside the house very much to feed this insane 12+ hour per day habit, a habit that cost me two marriages and is currently affecting a third, isolated me from what used to be a large group of friends, nearly destroyed my career, and turned me from a useful, passionate, interesting extrovert to someone who hides in his home and has no interests outside.

While I'm not someone who has ever found online communities particularly useful, I'm trying to create new habits, and this site seems to have a great success rate in helping people overcome this awful addiction, so I'm coming here humbly but with high hopes. It's nice to be here.

Welcome to NoFap where you are amongst friends who are here to encourage you and sometimes challenge you but not judge you.

The enemy is here to steal, kill and destroy. What are your current strategies for combating the enemy called PMO?

Congratulations on making the first step to recovering from this struggle we all face. I admire your honesty with the other addictions you have struggled with and let me be the first to say that if you can overcome those you can definitely over come this one. I would encourage you to look back on those hard times you faced in the past and see if you can draw from them to battle this addiction whatever startegies you may have used see if they can transfer over.

I would encourage you to look through these links they really helped me and i think theyll help you understand this site a little better and the addiction a little better which should help you in beating it.

Glad you are here! Welcome. I find it useful to come here daily and interact with others, share ideas, and offer support. You may want to start a journal of daily thoughts. Good luck on your quest!

  6. Hi
Glad you are here. And very welcome to join us in our journey to a healthy, fulfilling life without any self harming habits.
There are lot of 40+ guys here, so your situation isn't "strange" for your age.

It's a safe place here. We all are in the same boat, so there is no single space for judgement here.
Maybe it's a good idea to keep a journal. Sharing your struggles, thoughts and feelings may help you to understand the underlying issues.

Keep coming back and get the most effort out of nofap!
You don't need to do it alone!

    Let's go to work!
