The Bible says to love others. To quit addictions, try that today (TTT). It says to forgive others, try that today (TTT). It says to bear fruit TTT, to obey TTT, to increase in the fruit of the Spirit TTT. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”

Wow, that is a lot of things to try today. Who can do all of those things today? Tomorrow maybe I should focus on one topic. But when I do that, it won't work either, and more will be needed to solve the problem. Does anyone have the secret answer to quit?

Yep, someone does. Jesus Christ does. And the secret answer is... the fire. If you really understand fire you know that it will burn and burn until everything is burnt up, or until someone puts the fire out.

A person who has the fire will take this article with a million things to try, and they will try and try to do as many things that are humanly possible. Then tomorrow, when I focus on one topic, they will try that and then come back to today's article, or another article on this site, or find a book on quitting addiction, or find a YouTube article on quitting.

Key point: A person who has the fire will keep fighting until the sin is burnt up. A person who has the fire will keep fighting until the Word (the Bible) is in them, until the Word directs them, until the Word controls them.

Pray to have the fire. Pray, “Father, fill me with your fire.” Highlight this prayer and put it on your mirror. Why? We need to stoke (stir up) the fire every day.

If you only develop a few habits this month, your life will change for the better permanently. Today, memorize the key point paragraph. If you develop these habits your addiction will be gone.

Every day, satan will try to attack you. But on every day that you stoke the fire, it will be a fair battle, and one that you eventually will win. My daughter (The one I call the happiest person in Michigan) gets up early every day to pray and study the Bible. She always stokes the fire. And with the power that the fire gives her, she is always helping people.

Jesus is the light of the world because He is the fire. Strive to let that fire burn hotly, and permanently every day of your life.

Jesus' fire fights addiction. To increase the fire meditate on love. Consider praying:

“Father, take away my spirit of lust and fill me with a Spirit of love.”

I am currently meditating and praying daily about verses on love. The Bible says, “love is patient,” so I read that and pray, “Father, help me to be patient. The Bible says, “love is kind,” so I read that and pray, “Father, help me to be kind.”

The Corinthians passage about love continues. “It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

    8 Love never fails.”

I pray about each section of this passage daily to increase in love. Why? Because 1 John 4:16 reads: 16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.

God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.”

If God is fully in us we will never need porn again. While quitting is more complicated than that, we can be confident that increasing in love increases how much God is in us. The more God is in us the easier it will be to quit for good.

    Benefits of Love

    1. Love helps us to live in the light.

    1. Love builds up people who are around you. It makes us more popular. If you have more friends and support, could you quit easier?
    3. Freedom from fear. (1 John 4:18 NKJV) “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.”

    1. Our minds have only a finite amount of space. The more we fill it with thoughts of love, the less room there will be remaining for bad thoughts.

    2. Love increases the Spirit of the Lord in us. The more we increase it, the more He will fight lust for us.

Consider meditating and praying over verses about love daily.

Jude 1:4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

Who are the men who turn the grace of God into lasciviousness? They are murderers who keep on murdering and rapists who keep on raping. But the problem is... this was written for a church, not a prison.

I wrote recently that I should “fear” lust. But based on this verse I still don't fear it enough. “Read this verse often so that you will learn to fear the things that are ruining you.” Consider praying:

“Father, please remove this lust. Give me a proper fear of this lust.”

Second, we use scripture to pound lust out. Then we replace it with something great. The Bible says: “Blessed are they which hunger and thirst after righteousness for they shall be filled.” I highly recommend memorizing the above verse. If you “have” to have P... you are not filled. You still need something.

After David fell he recommitted his life to hungering and thirsting after righteousness. It was not a one-minute commitment, more like a one-year commitment until he started to make it a habit. Now you may say: That is way too hard. But, the more we do it the more we are filled. Filled means filled with the Spirit, and filled with joy.

Today, go to war with sinful short-term pleasure and make a commitment to this verse to start on a path to long-term joy, and purpose.

“Joy does not simply happen to us. We have to choose joy and keep choosing it every day.”

Why is it a “Secret answer?”

Our lives are like a great treasure hunt. The rules say: Stay on this straight highway and someday you will find joy.

On the highway, we don't see joy, but we see opportunities for fun and pleasure to the right and left. We take a turn off the highway and dig into pleasures that we are not supposed to have. Then, we try to get back on the highway. But... the way back is difficult. Our car is pounded and broken by rocky terrain. Finally, we are back on the straight and narrow, limping along in our broken car.

Our second driver believes. Temptation is to the right and the left, but not only does he not turn... He is “busy” telling others why they should not turn as well. He tells others how great their life could also be if they follow this great book. He reads this book often and believes it more every day.

He keeps searching straight ahead until his eyes are fixed on Jesus. He keeps straining to find the glory of God. He struggles with that, but “that” is what he struggles with... Not some habit that is breaking him.

Why is it a “Secret answer?” It is a secret answer because the answer stays a secret until we are deep in the middle of living it.

    The end.

Second, today I watched a video about hell. Pastor Steve prob was trying to teach people the fear of the Lord in this great video. It scared me into determining to triple my prayers about love. He loves people enough to warn them. I need to do better. Today I am working on a plan of how to do better.
