Again, THIS IS NOT A TEST OF WILLPOWER.

Willpower fails addicts, that is why they are addicted in the first place. If you had the willpower to do so, you could stop RIGHT NOW and never have to worry about PMO again. That is why you cannot rely on your own willpower alone to quit. I'm posting this because I think it should be reiterated, again and again, on this forum. Quitting PMO takes discipline, and a few things that you HAVE to do in order to accomplish it. The first of which is putting down some roadblocks. Mine started with porn-blockers on my computer and smartphone. When I needed more of a roadblock, I left my computer at work. If I really needed to do something, like pay a bill, I'd drive my ass to work, get on it, pay the bill, then leave. I also resorted to trading in my smartphone for a flip-phone with no data. Believe it or not there was a time when people survived without smartphones and computers: they make things convenient yes, but you have to be willing to sacrifice convenience to quit. Any "buts" to that statement is just a lame excuse.

Quitting requires you to sacrifice. It also requires you not to rely on yourself, in the "now" to quit. You have to prepare things that will help your "future self" because your "future self's" willpower will fail, and if there isn't something in the way between him, and a computer, then there is a high likelihood of relapse. Have a plan to deal with urges (mine was music), but also make it really freaking inconvenient to get P, or MO will follow. Have a plan for what will happen if you give into an urge. Because you will. You have to stop yourself in the future: figure out what you can do to accomplish that.

I found that by making things inconvenient, I'd get really frustrated and try to defeat my own plan for stopping myself. BUT that came to a point. There were several times when I was driving to work, to get my computer and bring it home. It allowed me enough time to calm things down, and avoid doing it. Think very carefully about what your plan is, and put it into action.

I think this is a great post and agree fully. I agree that changing habits is about creating a system for yourself, it is almost as much a question of logistics as willpower.

  3. Been a while since I heard wisdom like this.

Do not depend on yourself alone.
    Your will power will fail.
    Intentionally put away devices.
    Plan ahead.

    Thank you sir
