I don't know if any of you have had this problem, but every time I relapse and have to set my counter back to zero, there's a temptation to think, "Well, since I'm back at zero days anyway, I guess I might as well fap two or three more times and then get back on the wagon." Then of course, after those two or three more faps, you're still at zero, and so the same thought occurs again. . . . Anyway, the end result is that every time I relapse it usually takes me a couple of days or even a week before I'm really back on track and have started on another long streak.

So, to deal with this, I think what is needed is an alternative to the simple day counter -- some system in which, while every relapse is serious, it doesn't necessarily kick you all the way back to square one -- and, most importantly, in which two consecutive relapses are recognized as being significantly worse than just one.

Here's what I came up with. You earn ranks based on how many consecutive days you've gone without fapping. These are based on the "belt" system in martial arts. Kind of cheesy, I admit, but still there's something very motivating about the prospect of becoming a tenth-degree black belt at NoFap. The ranks are as follows:

Beginner: 0 days
White Belt: 3 days
Yellow Belt: 7 days
Orange Belt: 10 days
Green Belt: 14 days
Blue Belt: 21 days
Violet Belt: 1 month (30 days)
Brown Belt: 2 months (61 days)
Black Belt (1st degree): 3 months (91 days)
Black Belt (2nd degree): 4 months (122 days)
Black Belt (3rd degree): 5 months (152 days)
Black Belt (4th degree): 6 months (183 days)
Black Belt (5th degree): 7 months (213 days)
Black Belt (6th degree): 8 months (243 days)
Black Belt (7th degree): 9 months (274 days)
Black Belt (8th degree): 10 months (304 days)
Black Belt (9th degree): 11 months (335 days)
Black Belt (10th degree): 1 year (365 days)

Every time you relapse, your counter is set back to zero -- but you only drop one belt rank. If you relapse again, you drop another belt rank, and so on.

For example, three days ago, my counter was at 13 so I was an orange belt. Then the next day, I relapsed, so my counter was set back to 0 and I dropped to yellow belt. So that's still a significant loss -- I was just one day away from my green belt, and now I'm two weeks away -- but I haven't lost everything, and that keeps me motivated not to relapse a second time. If I did, I'd be back to a white belt; a third relapse, and I'd really be back to square one.

Anyway, I thought I'd share this system in case anyone else might find it helpful. I'm just 90 days away from my black belt now, and I'm going to make it this time!

Personally, I think this is a fantastic idea, gonna implement it in my NoFap progress.

I like it. I am already a 2nd degree black belt(started martial arts when I was 10), now I have another way to help achieve my goal. So that means I am a violet belt at NoFap. Thats kinda fun. I wonder what kind of moves one might see in the NoFap style. It would obviously be considered a 'soft style' I presume.

I dont believe in belts. There should be no ranking system for toughness.
