What do men consider "modest swimwear"?

Discussion in 'Off-topic Discussion' started by TakingTheSteps, Jan 9, 2016.

  1. So it's getting to the time of year that swimsuits are for sale (at least in my town), and I'm wondering what men consider modest?

I love clothes and fashion and finding unique designs, so sometimes it's tough to turn down something one of a kind for something more basic that's more modest.

    POSSIBLE TRIGGER WARNING.

My main question here is this: if a woman is wearing a swim suit that shows her stomach and legs (similar to a bikini type) but the top is modest (completely covering the ladies), is that better than just wearing any old bikini, or is the stomach and legs still enough skin to make you have to turn your head?

This is something I've always wondered about, because in general I've felt that as long as my chest is very covered, the rest doesn't matter as much, but since struggling with porn I'm starting to think that might not make much of a difference. Would something that covers the stomach make a big difference over something that does not?

Obviously everyone has different preferences and different weaknesses, but I thought it would be interesting to get y'all's advice on that particular question, whether or not covering your stomach is important. Because the stomach isn't really an inherently "sexy" body part (meaning, it's not going to be blurred out on television or anything), but I want to do right by my brothers and not cause anyone to stumble. I've probably answered my own question already on which one I would feel more comfortable with, but I'd still like to hear the opinions of others.

More generally, how can we ladies do right by you gentlemen this summer, in regards to swimwear?

This is a good question and very considerate of you to take the time to gather some feedback. Personally, as long as the breasts are adequately covered, that is the main thing. But I have spoken to a guy on this site and he has a particular preference (fetish maybe) for the mid-riff. He has only mentioned this in respect of dry clothing, but I have a feeling a bikini style swimsuit would "blow" his fuses, too. I hasten to add, that you cannot base your clothing choices on what may be a highly individualised point of view or perhaps a fetish. I wish more men and women would show care in their choices. Ciao.

  3. Thanks for the feedback, IGY! Yeah, that's the main reason I was curious to get opinions from many different people, to kind of get a better "generalization," I suppose, rather than just one or two peoples opinions.

    I appreciate your input :)

Well, personally, when I go to the beach, I just enter this "beach mode" where it really doesn't bug me either way what the ladies wear. I can't be seen just sitting there and ogling, so I don't do that. That said, have not been to the beach since I've started since the NoPMO journey, so it probably would be a different story now, haha. From what I have observed so far, it's just the female body overall that attracts me, with certain parts standing out, obviously. Stomach is really not one of them so it wouldn't matter either way if it is bare or not. :)

On the other hand, nothing wrong with showing off your body, I think. I wouldn't be mad at an attractive woman for being attractive, it's my responsibility to keep my thoughts clean, really.

  5. While I want to do my part as best as I can to not be a stumbling block for others, this is definitely true. We're all responsible for our own hearts and the darkness that lies there. I mean even if I'm wearing something super modest, it still might not make a difference, so of course I can't blame myself for someone else's lust.

If you are a keen shopper and/or fashion guru, and you enjoy finding unique designs to wear etc, I am unsure why you would sacrifice your passion for wearing said designs on the basis of aiding young men with their occasionally troublesome 'viewing' tendencies. One problem is that it all depends on different individuals' varying preferences on swimwear and what they find to be 'hot', or 'sexy'. For example, one person may find an exposed midriff to be attractive, whereas another may find a covered midriff (such as a one piece) to be more flattering/ sexy. While it is admirable that you should be so considerate to others in what you wear, it is unlikely that you can cater towards everyone's preferences. Surely in this day and age you should be able to wear whatever you see fit.

Yes, this is a good point, well made. I would only add that there are some designs (not especially swimwear) that are immodest. It is obvious, you wouldn't wear something like that anyway.

  8. Well, I would sacrifice that because I care a lot more about the purity of my brothers than I do about fashion. It's fun to be cute and have nice things, but it's not really "important," at least not to me.

But I do agree with you that it's impossible to cater to everyone, and we're all responsible for ourselves.

Depends where you plan on going. You might want to wear the swimsuit covering the stomach while swimming in pools but the one not covering the stomach while going out to the beach. To be completely honest, I don't see why you're bugging yourself over this, just wear what you feel most comfortable in.

  11. To be clear... I'm definitely not bugging myself about this. Lol it was mostly a question of curiosity, to see what people's thoughts are. I'm kind of interested in social psychology and such, so sometimes I ask things purely because I'm curious what people think and why, but I'm not torturing myself over a swimsuit. Lol don't worry!

  14. Lol suppose that would be the most modest option. And hey, just cuz everyone else is walking around in their underwear doesn't give me an excuse to do the same.

  15. No worries :) I'm also just bored, lonely, and a little sad at the moment, so conversation is keeping me sane. Lol

  20. I guess I'm too young for this, but Still I'm going to say, Personally, I like to see women in Onesuit(one piece,or whatever you call it) ,and that too some special kind of onesuits.Urm,I can't explain but inbox a picture if you like lol.It has a special charm and some kind of aura which wearing normal bikinis doesn't give.Somehow,It adds to the beauty of a woman.Another wear I like is Bikini with a little sarong on waist(I guess that's a beachwear, but not a swimsuit).I like that adding a little piece of cloth on a bikini can make a much difference to me lol.And some legs part is also covered in sarongs,so It might be a great option for who doesn't want to show their whole legs.
And after all, what is wrong in appreciating a beauty of a woman, clinging to it is a problem. When we see a beautiful landscape,we all go like wow,but why doesn't that happen always when we see a gorgeous women in a swimwear? We kinda ignore or suppress the beauty sometimes.
