When you feel the VOID, PUSH THROUGH

  1. I wrote this to help someone in particular, but actually this message could be really helpful for others as well. What happens when you feel like you want to escape, to avoid facing your inner demons. When you feel like: "there’s so much about me alone that I feel myself avoiding because of all the scary feelings that come with self examination"
Honestly yes! It is so much more bearable. With pmo, the world is bleaker, grayer, duller. It becomes one of mindless doing, wasting time, and just trying to numb oneself through either more pmo or more media or distractions. And @Shg getting to terms with and unraveling your real self is really hard and you are forced to do just that once you stop escaping with pmo. But its possible to not only come to terms with yourself, but to face yourself, accept yourself, and also to like yourself. I've experienced it finally after probably over a year cumulative of nofap (particularly about day 80 into a streak). When you push through and come to terms with yourself, when you overcome that resistance that makes you want to pmo to avoid yourself, you become stronger. Your resilience pays off. You become more confident. What I have found is that at various points in any of my longer streaks which force me to face my real self, most of the time I am fine. But there are various testing points. Trials, or dark inner emotions, or a void feeling, or feelings of discomfort, self hatred, etc. When these moments come, that's when you are most likely to relapse when you are on a longer streak. Because it doesn't feel good to have to really feel these emotions. Isn't it easier to just escape it all? Like @Enderswish604 said, if you choose to escape instead of facing and overcoming it, your life becomes significantly more difficult and less enjoyable. Whereas, if you endure, life becomes at the very least more manageable, and definitely more enjoyable.

So you see, there is a consequence, a pay off, always
