Why do cold showers work?

    I haven't had a proper cold shower. I've only done it in a gradual manner (i.e. moving warm water to cool slowly).

    The idea of cold showers in this forum is to jump straight into the coldest water stream. But why does this make so much of a difference compared to warm water for example? Does it really kill your urges?

    The benefits of cold showers dont come from jumping straight in to a ice cold shower, although you could do that if you want, Its completely ok to go from warmer to ice cold, actually in some cases it might be beneficial to switch between both mostly when treating injuries. People tend to jump right in to cold showers to get the shock which takes away the feeling of horniness I guess. But this will happen even if you graduately walk your way down, as long as you reach the same amount of coldness. It also helps with alot of other factors.

    I took my first cold shower a few weeks ago and I have seen major benefits. First off, I would just go for it. Go for the plunge! Just do it! When you force your brain to do challenging things it sends signals all through your body and nerves in much the same way as a dopamine rush. Although I am no scientist and don't know what happens biologically when you take a cold shower, I do know that it definitely speeds up your heart rate. This could be good, b/c essentially (and correct me if I'm wrong) you are "tricking" your brain into making it seem it can overcome anything. If you can jump into a cold shower, I bet you that you would have more chances at jumping away from PMO. Trust me on this. Cold showers have helped me. I would suggest doing it in the morning too since it is kind of a wake up call and they also help you afterwards with focus and calming down.
