Why do most people who lose weight eventually always put that weight back on?

The biggest reason I think most people who lose weight eventually always put that weight back on is because they didn't stick with the lifestyle that helped them lose that weight. They went back to their old lifestyle after they lost that weight.

So people might start dieting, eating much healthier, and doing a lot of exercise, and they do this for so long until they lose a good amount of weight. But then once they have lost this weight they gradually go back to eating more high glycemic foods, high carbohydrate foods, junk foods, fast foods.

This to me looks like this person who done all this dieting, constantly eating healthy, constantly exercising didn't actually like this lifestyle. They clearly didn't want this to be their permananet lifestyle. If someone hates some sort of diet or exercise regime then it is highly unlikely they're going to be able to stick to it long term or for the rest of their life.

This to me is the main reason everyone who loses weight through certain diets and exercise always usually regain all the weight back. They simply hated that dieting and exercising lifestyle.

What somewhat frustrates me is people who do the ketogenic diet or intermittent fasting say this, that people who diet and exercise always regain all the weight back. But these people basically say if you stick to the ketogenic diet or intermittent fasting for life you won't regain the weight back.

I have some issues with this. If someone sticks to certain diets and also exercise for life they can keep that weight they lost off for life. How is this any differnt from doing the ketogenic diet or intermittent fasting for life?

What annoys me is a lot of people who do the ketogeneic diet or intermittent fasting love these diets and eating patterns, and they seriously think that everyone who does them will love the ketogenic diet or intermittent fasting, and everyone can just easily do them for life.

I done intermittent fasting for over a year, I lost a ton of weight, I went back to sometimes eating crap food and drinking alcohol, but because I still done a lot of intermittent fasting I just maintained the same weight, I still didn't regain any weight back. So this sounds perfect right? Like I had found a way where I could still eat and drink what I want reguarly but I balanced it with also doing intermittent fasting reguarly.

But the problem with doing this is it actually made me feel ill. I actually think it had something to do with my insulin levels and glucose levels going so low for a period of time and then going sky high for a period of time. It seems like going back and forth between the two caused me to feel unwell. But people who promote the ketogenic diet and intermittent fasting say this will happen, and they say this is why you want to stick to the ketogenic diet and intermittent fasting every day.

The issue I have with this is I wouldn't want to do intermittent fasting permanently. I sometimes want to be able to not eat as good, I sometimes want to be able to drink alcohol, I sometimes want to be able to go out for a meal, I sometimes want to be able to stuff my face at events and drink some alcohol.

I don't want an intermittent fasting lifestyle 24/7 for the rest of my life. But some people who promote intermittent fasting or the ketogenic diet think that everyone who does this will be happy with this diet 24/7 for the rest of their life. Well I certainly wasn't. This to me is no different to people who do a lot of dieting and exercsing who don't want to do it constantly for the rest of their lives.

What I thought though is surely if you ate healthy 90% of the time and then maybe had one day once a week or once a fortnight you didn't eat as good and did have a drink, that surely this balance would be enough for someone to maintain their weight. Well unfortuently for me this doesn't seem to be the case. Eating not as good once a week and drinking alcohol once a week and eating healthy and not drinking the rest of the week seems to cause me to gain weight.

It's just so frustrating. It's honestly like for me to keep my weight off I need to constantly monitor my weight and be on certain strict diets all the time for me to lose weight and keep the weight off.

Because most weight loss plans/diets are a means to an end. People go on their diets, lose weight, feel a sense of accomplishment, and then go right back to old habits. It’s similar to pmo addiction, where you quit porn for a few weeks, give yourself a pat on the back, and then take a little peek. If you want to lose weight permanently, you have to change to a healthier lifestyle permanently. Diets don’t work. Eat healthy and exercise for life!

  3. I think too many people diet without building their fitness level.

The overall fitness is stronger than the diet.

The diet is good to lose weight, but a fit person should not worry about it.

That is, if they are putting in the effort to stay fit after they lose the weight.

If they don't, then it won't take much to land them back to their old weight.

Think about it: the amount of calories in carbs is astronomical.

I see people eat chocolate and drink regular sodas, and I'm astounded.
