Yup... I'm Christian and I'm not against masturbation. Is that crazy? I have a pretty open forum type communication with my friends and my support system around me concerning masturbation (I don't really struggle with porn and I'm single so there's no sex happening), and I have found I'm definitely not the norm. I learned to masturbate without any kind of lust-filled thoughts, and so for a while, I thought I was good. But, after a while, I realized that I was stuck in an addiction. I didn't want to admit it... but, one day while I was talking to God I felt him say... "Dude, this is controlling you." And yes, God does talk like that. So, that's why I'm on a reboot plan. I need to cut my addiction to masturbation. Today and yesterday have been especially hard. I'm 10 days in! WOO! Here's to 79 more! Fellow Christians, what do you think about masturbation? Others are welcome to join conversation as well!
My faith is evolving - my views on views on faith and the Bible are changing. I'm not 100% sure as to do with all sexual issues though. I can't see how I'll ever change my mind about porn being absolutely destructive on so many levels and think it's best to wait until you are in a committed relationship to having sex. But I'm questioning this issue of masturbation. I think masturbating within sex is fine. I also think it's pretty arrogant to dismiss the writings of medical doctors who say it has health benefits. It's bad to be doing it if it's an addiction as well. It's bad it will cause you to have ED. But I don't masturbation isn't as bad as some people make it out to be.
Masturbation essentially is just pleasing yourself. Just think about what Christ taught: Basically serve and love others and self sacrificial living, not giving in to the lusts of the flesh etc. Just read the whole Bible. Sex was designed for man and woman to be joined together as one. Let's not fool ourselves and try to minimize our sinful behaviors! We're messed up because we live in a fallen world. Without Christ we are just slaves to our sinful nature.
The thing he says about peoples hands because they masturbate. I think it's best to not do solo maturbation but this is really going over the top. This hyper demon theories put us onto dangerous ground. Some of what Derek Prince says is good but some of it is very dangerous.
@Surfing Poet What do you mean by non-solo masturbation? By definition that would not be masturbation. @grandstand 1 We cannot sin in moderation.
M is generally defined as stimulation of ones own genitals with the hands. But the spiritual definition of sexual perversion is very broad. For example many tend to forget that oral intercourse falls within the definition of sodomy. Another illustration... Cartoon porn and CGI porn is still porn. As Christians we do not derive 'normality' from the practices of the world but rather what the scriptures instruct and reveal.
To masturbate is defined as to touch ones self in a sexual manner. So if the two people are not married (man and woman), anything beyond the scope of marriage is a sin. God has a very high standard in what is considered sinful, that "if even anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart." Matthew 5:28
