The site needs fresh blood

  1. At the time of writing, there are only 33 users online right now across the entire site. Those appearing online at least. At peak times it's not a lot more than that. Site's dead if they don't let new people in soon.

I just wonder where the mobilization & energy went?

Not too long ago (at all, really!), NoFap was boasting its strength & asking us to monetarily support the founder.

Now...we are seemingly abandoned--at the very least, long neglected.

Where is this place's strength? Where is the community? Where is the support and the heart of the mission? It all seems a bit topsy-turvy in the present state of affairs.

  3. Damnnnn.

  4. It's disappointing that none of the mods have responded to this thread despite it getting lots of attention, with everyone who has commented so far agreeing with me.

I remember the site had like 100-200 members online usually. Honestly I’ve been here since 2020 and people spamming things wasn’t that frequent as people says.

  6. Yeah it had a lot more even when I joined. I agree the spamming was not something I noticed but I have to imagine it happened.

  7. It's very quickly gone from feeling like a genuine community to feeling like a small group of the same people talking to each other. Conversations have become so stale when you know you're gonna get the same people replying saying the same things every time. You've got the guys who got lost on their way to Reddit who talk in buzzwords. You've got the illiterates whose posts are not even worth reading. You've got the exceedingly polite people using English as a second language, who are somehow more literate than the previous group. You have the ultra supportive old guard on insane streaks most of us can barely dream of. You have the women who stick to their own sections 'cause a lot of the men on here are weirdos. You have the trolls who are somehow still around despite blatantly trolling. Then there's the mopey guys and the standoffish guys and the guys who turn most things into a joke but can give good advice when it calls for it (that's me btw.)

I'm not sure I fit into any of the groups you mentioned, but I agree this site does feel a lot smaller than when I joined in 2015. I want to be categorized, so I'll put myself in the group of "Old dudes who still relapse on a regular basis, but they are doing a lot better since they joined this site and they are no longer PMO or MO like bonobo chimps."

Yeah I think the most important thing is be aware that you are a slave of the porn, after you understand this, you will never forget it for the rest of your life even if you relapse

I've only just returned to these forums after a while of absence. I joined many years ago with another account which is long lost, but I do remember there was more of a sense of brotherhood.

With the issues we are overcoming it is hard to tell anyone in real life and get support. These forums are good place where people can anonymously confess and get support from fellow brothers.

The disciples were twelve and Christ is one. It is incredible to see how many men had left, you should be proud of conserving your integrity with this program.

  12. It's great to hear back from a mod, so thanks. I have to admit I was not aware of any recent changes to the actual rules, or did that happen before I joined back in May? I won't name names but I do find it interesting that pretty much everyone who has commented on here knows what I'm talking about, I'd go as far as to say who I'm talking about.

Thanks for letting the other mods know. There has to be a solution to get the site open again in time for November, would be crazy if there wasn't.

  13. If it feels like the sense of brotherhood is lost, it's because there are often less than 50 people active at any given time. When you consider how many of those are women who generally keep to themselves (for good reason, I'm not blaming them) or only post in journals, it turns the main forum sections into ghost towns. If this site died, where would we all go? The Subreddit? That place is awful.

What if they allowed referrals or a bit more extensive admittance process to maybe get people who are more serious and at least get people added. How many and how often would still be an issue of course.

I noticed as soon as that message was posted about 15,000+ registrations clogged somewhere and new people stopped coming in, the site has seemingly been on life support. With no new entrants, and the usual flow of people dropping out after a while, there is no turnover, and hence, threads and posts have dropped off a cliff. I don’t know if part if it was changes from Reddit around that time and their changes in fees? I imagine there aren’t the resources to keep it running. It’s a shame and will lead to fewer people out there joining their support groups, one of which I belong to, and the other benefits and supports that NoFap has brought to so many. I don’t know what the registration/enrollment process requires and offered to help if there was a way (especially for a not super tech-savvy person) but I got no response. Truth for me is, if the few guys I communicate regularly weren’t here, I’d probably be leaving here too.

  16. Why not start a new forum / site if this site is truly abandoned by its owners? I had no idea that registrations were closed for that long and that this site was just left to die with existing members. I think if this is true, something else should take its place.

  17. Agreed, especially with that last part. The site has so few people on it now that is can't serve its intended function anymore. By cutting off new people joining whoever it was that made the decision (we're assuming it was the public mods but it could be someone higher up, like a site admin) have essentially kneecapped the site. I worry that it's going to die off anyway after this even if the problem is resolved. I hope I'm wrong. I can't see myself outright not using the site anymore, but it's nowhere near as useful as I hoped it would be when I joined and if anything the various arguments I've gotten into on here with people who, I'll be frank, shouldn't be allowed on here to start with, has negatively effected my mental state and led to relapses more than once.

  18. @fasticles Why do you keep deleting your posts? I've noticed this happen twice now when I've gone to reply to you.

  19. Issue with that is the mods are seemingly already overworked. You'd need a dedicated team of people to vet the amount of people who want to join. I still think either flushing the system out by rejecting everyone who has already applied and starting again is the best idea I can think of, as someone not exactly an expert on this sort of thing.

  20. My post is still there for me? Unless a mod blocked it from being viewed or something.
