Spirituality vs Pornography

Discussion in 'Self Improvement' started by Deleted Account, Nov 22, 2017.

  1. Hello guys! I am going to share some quick advice for anyone out there battling PMO!

I have been struggling for years now, but I would definitely be in a worse state than I am in if it wasn't for my religious attitude on life. I've been involved in this terrible addiction of PMO, but up until now, I never really considered it a problem. I talked to a very trusted church leader of mine, and he told me that anytime I feel a sexual urge, I need to turn to God in all that I do. With that being, I want to tell you guys that if you do not have any religion, I am not telling you to convert to any religion, but I do want to tell you this. Try to find a spiritual pathway connected you and some God that you think you believe in... I feel that God has made my life much easier during my recovery process because as I progress, I get more energy from God than I ever had with PMO. I feel uplifted, safe, peace, and happiness when I turn to God. But when I go to Pornography, I may feel those feelings for 2 minutes, but then I'll be depressed, lonely, and isolated for hours, days, weeks, or even months...

A fellow fapstronaut said this idea anytime you have a sexual urge:

    ANTHEM Method

    1. Acknowledge that you are having a unclean thought.
    2. NO (Say "No!" to the urge).
    3. Think about all that God/Christ has done for you.
    4. Hold that thought about him until the urge goes away.
    5. Edify yourself with Christ-like activities.
    6. Move on.

I think I got most of that right, but maybe that person will see this.

Anyways, I wish you all good luck during your reboots and addiction recoveries! I believe in you all:)

Out of all the ways that I deal with urges this is the best way for me. I turn to Christ and I am elevated to peace and joy through him.

Yeah, as a Muslim I can relate to you.

We all stop PMO due to many reasons. I've tried giving up pmo for many reasons, such as looking better, being confident and having a deeper voice etc.

However, all those reasons never gave me a sense of purpose, as to why I want to quit pmo. I finally found out that doing this all for the love of God is what matters after all. The benefits will obviously come, but we shouldn't do it solely for the sake of receiving benefits.

We need to put our trust in God. For example, If we only start praying so that God gives us everything in this world, then that worship is purposeless. We should be in a state, where we do this all for the love of God. Likewise, this is similar for nofap.
