I'm pleased to see the 50 Shades film trilogy has become panned and came to an end

  1. Fifty Shades of Grey
    Rotten Tomatoes: 25 percent

    Fifty Shades Darker
    Rotten Tomatoes: 10 percent

    Fifty Shades Freed
Rotten Tomatoes: 13 percent (as of February 8th, 4:20 PM)

I'm surprised the studio wanted to end the trilogy right away. Good riddance!

I didn't even know there was a 3rd movie. Maybe freed means the actors are free from their shitty contracts.

  5. Wow, I thought they only made two movies, I'm glad I never went to see that stupid movie nor have I ever read the books. It's essentially a porno geared towards women, I always thought it was disgusting and extremely tacky when I saw the commercials.

The funny thing is more woman watch it then man its basically female porn. Its woman ultimate fantasy to get dominated by a man..

  7. Obviously more women do watch it, because it was catered to them in the first place and their 'fantasies'. Erotica is extremely popular with women.

I'd like to see someone make a parody called 50 Sequels of Rocky combining both.

Well, 50 shades is not exactly a womans ultimate fantasy, unless women like being in abusive relationships but I am glad it's ending too. I remember in high school my friend told me to read it, and I read the first book in college and well, it's stupid and abusive, glad it will be over now.

  11. I haven't watched them. I saw a commercial where she's like "I'm mrs. Grey."

I thought the main plot line was she is a submissive to this mr. Grey

  12. They tried to dress it up as some sort of BDSM relationship but it's not, a better term for what they portrayed in the film and the book would be domestic abuse. I was reading the sequel was even darker than the original.

  13. Abusive how? Don't get to sexually specific here. But you mean abusive as in just blantaly mentally/physically assaulting her? I thought it was a relatively sexual novel. You said above it is a common "fantasy" for women.

Just curious, I have no want to read/watch it.

  14. I just remember it was a big thing for women when it first came out. Heard the first book did relatively good in sales.

Maybe more stuff is coming out like that for women. They came out with "Magic Mike." That was a pretty good movie for sales I heard too.

If a stripper movie came out for guys and a bunch of husbands went out to public movie theaters, I feel like their wives/girlfriends would be pissed

Good.... This BDSM stuff ruined my life. And why is it women are so into this???!!! It was my GF who was first interested in being "dominated" and then I got WAY into it. Our sex eventually became non romantic and it turned into just me smacking her around and choking her and having violent and painful sex(for her). This stuff shouldn't be promoted... it's unhealthy and women FLOCK to this crap for some odd reason. I know numerous women that are into being abused/choked during sex.

I bet if someone said it was from a book about abuse instead of 50 shades they'd say that guy is horrible, a monster, etc.

  19. I never said it was common and the quotations are there for a reason mate, I said Erotica itself is extremely popular with women because of how the stories are crafted and such. Either way it's a stupid annoying old trope that all women secretly just want to be dominated and by men and be treated like they're our "masters". While I'm not into it at least in proper BDSM there's rules, safeguards, and actual care with respect involved between both parties, nobody is being abused in any way.

This explains it pretty good imo, it probably has some triggers in there but given the terrible nature of the book I'm not surprised.

I wasn't able to manage part way through the first book. I was just amazed at how demented the relationship between the two main characters was, and that is what turned me off.

The films were always going to be marketed because they knew they'd sell to a certain demographic, and the films probably put out as quickly as possible because the studio knew it would be a case of diminishing returns to drag it out for too long.

A little bit of interest, rotten tomatoes is no indicator of sales, and even if a film does poorly in cinemas it can draw a profit from later sales, so the studios probably knew they had a turkey but one that was going to make them money. Same thing with the female ghostbusters, etc. If someone is investing in it, they expect to get a return for it.

As for the story being what women desire, well its fantasy porn isn't it. Some women love being dominated, some hate it, just like how some men get off being kicked in the nuts, horses for courses really.
