When do porn withdrawls start after you last watched. Also will eliminating porn without eliminating masturbation make the withdrawls less bad?

  2. 2 weeks to 1 month.

Not sure if you can make it less severe by only leaving out porn but I doubt it. If your addiction is severe you may be already hard wired for porn, which means that you will have a hard time masturbating without it.

In any case I wouldn't advise any of this. One of these habits always leads to the other.

Withdrawal can be pretty severe. Expect pretty serious symptoms for at least a couple of months. If you have a job or are in college, I'd even suggest planning this. Maybe take a sabbatical year or two just to get through it (yes it can be that severe).

    Good luck

Come on bro. A sabbatical year? Stand your fucking ground, run, meditate, write, eat good, and just go through it. Personally it was really bad after 2 weeks, but just for a couple of days. Now is ups and downs. I'am at days 37, probably is not finished, but you can definetely support it while working, you will come out from this stronger.

  4. Not if you have had very serious addiction and acute withdrawal that turns into post acute withdrawal syndrome. In that case exercise and diet isn't going to do the trick, only time will.

If you haven't been through that hell yourself you shouldn't judge. Some acute and post withdrawal symptoms can be easily mistaken for other (psychiatric) conditions.

You're never fully aware of what porn can do until you need to live without it. It's a very potent drug, and I won't hesitate to compare it to cocain or heroin. The mental effects can be the same or even worse.

True dopamine withdrawal is hell and easily triggers severe depression. It can totally suck the life out of someone and takes months, even years to more or less reverse.

With all due respect but you don't know how withdrawal is going to affect OP. If you think withdrawal from porn addiction isn't that bad than perhaps your symptoms are just not as severe. Maybe your addiction wasn't as severe to begin with.

  5. Very very well said, good sir. Me personally I am on the longest streak without P and M, and it was beyond difficult in the beginning for the first two weeks. The hardest thing has been to not put my internet on incognito or private browsing.

Absolutely agreed. Along with cold showers. I saw a YouTube vid of this guy who was on two years and his advice “stop being a little bitch and do it.”

Ok I agree, I can't judge any addiction it's true. But I think that tell someone that he may need to take 2 sabbatical years to go through this it will just scare him and make him feel worse as placebo effect. At the end, you too don't know how bad was his addiction.
I think that it's safe to say, without knowing anything about him, that he will probably be able to live with his withdrawls synthomps, life won't be the best for a couple of months, and then he will be ok.
Then extreme cases exists it's true, in that case if you really can't "stand your ground", don't play the hero and seek professional help. There is nothing "bitcht" in it. We are all humans, pain hurts everyone.

  8. I’m not here to agree with you to make the other guy feel bad, but I really hope you’re right. I can’t wrap my mind around the fact that my life is so colorless all from pmo, am I just that weak of a person? Or is my addiction is what is causing me to feel so poorly. All these doubts, day in and day out, so stressful... and I have to work and all of other life’s “responsibilities” my head hurts, literally atm

I want to live again, this is not living and it’s pissing me off (sorry, have to vent)

  9. Porn addiction can definitely do that, no question about it. Even when as an addict you're not in withdrawal, life will suck. Everything will seem pointless, not worth any effort, and the low energy that is associated with porn addiction will only add to the problem. This state of low vitality creeps up on you as months, even years as an addict pass. You won't even know it's there because it's just a part of who you are at that point, and that in itself in my opinion is one of the biggest problems that comes with being a pmo addict. Many simple things in life just suck as an addict because you just don't have the physical and spiritual energy to deal with them. Going to school, socializing etc. will often seem like a very big chore when others will seem to flourish. Grades will suck, jobs will suck and succes is hard to get at that point. Others will often seem better at everything and let's face it, maybe they just don't have a problem with porn, or at least not to that extent of watching it every day for months and years in a row. Physically they'll appear fitter, which makes you wonder why you can't be like them. Is it bad genes, you wonder?

This feeling of low self-esteem is real, has everything to do with metabolism, dopamine circulation and reward pathways in the brain (to name just a few of the problems). The pleasure porn can bring unconsciously makes the brain indifferent towards pretty much anything else, since little can bring such a high (certain excitatory and feel-good neurotransmitters can easily reach levels of up to 400% when watching porn (with and without masturbation)). You get the idea... It's basically a drug. I can't recall on what site I read it but someone somewhere has compared it to injecting cocaine through the eyes, without a needle or actual cocaine, and he's absolutely right. The excitatory effects porn causes are very similar. Porn can actually be far more exciting than actual sex because it stimulates one's own imagination and desires. These personal ideas of sexual arousal in real life often times will be pretty taboo or unrealistic which only leaves the addict feeling deprived and frustrated.

To make matters worse, withdrawal from porn addiction involves levels of dopamine so low that all vitality is lost (if the addiction was severe). Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that is particularly associated with things like energy and motivation. Needless to say this makes withdrawal from porn pretty miserable and can be pretty extreme. But it's not just one neurotransmitter, it's hundreds that are involved in withdrawal from porn. In severe withdrawal the body will be out of balance to at least some degree, and it can get pretty extreme. The brain may more or less freak out about dopamine imbalance, to name just one problem, which of course means the entire nervous system will be a mess. It's something you wouldn't wish upon anyone. I have no doubt that it's very similar to coming off hard drugs, and that long term withdrawal syndromes can be associated with porn addiction. But I guess you first have to experience it to realize that it really can happen. Unfortunately enough guys on here have gone through it and it's pretty severe in some cases. We're talking symptoms that resemble clinical depression and anxiety disorder. It's porn's true side, the final price that comes with it. Unfortunately, as an addict you don't know what's waiting for you until it's too late. No addict thinks about withdrawal or even realizes that it's possible until he or she has to go through it.

Many guys out there are suffering or not living life to the fullest because of this toxic filth. The high is always short lived and time after time gives way for frustration and despair to follow. It's a vicious circle, and not long into the process it becomes a necessity rather than a moment of joy. For sure it can be extremely addictive and it takes those severe withdrawal symptoms to make one realize that living life high on porn is not an option. Never were we meant to spill the most precious thing we've got in front of a computer screen.

Hope this gives you some idea of what porn addiction does. I'm not a scientist or anything but we've all felt the negative effects. There will always be people who will somehow justify porn use and who will water down the problem associated with it. I can only advise you to listen to what your own body and mind are telling you because true happiness eventually stems from inner guidance. Porn addiction more or less equals spiritual warfare. Porn is evil as hell and really should be avoided if you want to be happy.

    God bless you.

For me it took around 45 days on this streak, other times its happened in the teens and ive talked to guys who didn't really have it till much later so its kinda from person to person.

As for MO without P, no, it won't really help, It'll become a dependency thing. You'll feel better for a day or so but then need it again which is literally what porn has been to us for years. Plus over time it'll make you want porn even more because "This feels great! But imagine how much better it would feel with porn". Its overall just better to try and get through all the shit and get your mind back fully.

The first reboot is more like a purge. It hurts like hell. I had mostly headaches and fatigue. The first reboot lasted 30 days. My second 83 days. I’m on my third now. No real withdrawal symptoms except the occasional flatline.
