You know why you get less urges? Because you're feeding the addiction!

You can do that if you want but you're not making progress that way. Edging is actually worse in a lot of ways because with PMO you do it and you're done. But with edging you're just abusing your dopamine receptors (which you've already been destroying for years) for hours and hours which also is strengthening the addicted neural pathways in your brain.

What you're doing is pointless if your trying to undo the damage thats been done to your brain.

The primary goal of NoFap is to provide a platform where users can heal from excessive PMO abuse. Yes, these subcategories are implemented as well for those seeking further goals, but the majority of the people here are rebooters. Therefore I don’t really see why it’s necessary for someone to specifically address that issue in a comment when in fact 90% of users on this site are here to reboot.

Edging will slow down the reboot for sure, I think you'd better give up on that. It's not compulsory, but If you want to reboot faster you should give it up

That's the reason its bad. Maybe not bad inherently, only to a person trying to recover from addiction. But if you use that logic then almost nothing is "bad".

I get it, nofap means 0 fapping. But I thought the whole idea of nofap was semen retention due to the benefits it can give like higher testosterone, confidence, energy, and thinking clearer. I edge, but I just don't edge and then stop, I drive the sexual energy around my body and end up feeling way much better than just holding my seed for weeks. In the end, I ease sexual tension a lot and end up feeling more sharp and calm without spilling my seed. You guys can say I'm not making progress, but if sexual tension is low and I feel way much better than MO and not edging and just keeping my sexual energy in one place -- then I don't want to be right.

  6. All I can tell you dude is I tried masturbating without having an orgasm and it just sent my sex drive through the roof and eventually led to my relapse. My advice - stay clear off it all. Get yourself back on what nature’s path intended for you.

  7. Nofap does not mean everybody must 0 fap. It's more like an offer. It's a tool. Most people here use it for overcoming an addiction to porn or masturbation. You use it for a different aim. I can't see what should be wrong with that. You're doing something that apparently makes you happy. Maybe this discussion is better located in the abstinence & retention section than in the rebooting section.

Yes, semen retention is important, but you're forgetting one of the most crucial points of abstinence: dopamine. Edging is still releasing an unhealthy amount of dopamine in your brain and when that's happening you are not re-wiring. You may experience the physical benefits of reabsorbing your sperm but for many hardcore PMO addicts, reaching normal dopamine levels in the brain is key to establishing mental recovery. Bringing dopamine levels back to normal levels is equally if not more important.

  9. That's true but nofap can also be for people that want to stop a bad habiting from forming or like tiba mentioned the sexual transmutations part of the forums. It's a lifestyle.

After reading the book "Your brain on porn" (https://www.amazon.com/Your-Brain-P...1535696342&sr=8-1&keywords=your+brain+on+porn) I (or the author) can confirm that this is correct.

This (edging!) is a BAD idea. Whatever happens (orgasm or not) you lose.
