Hi Guys (and gals for that matter), Here is some bro science from me. I started my current nofap streak at the end of July. After like 10 days me flatline kicked in. Plus this time something else happened: I suffered a "sudden hearing loss" attack that is healing off right now and left me with a (mild) tinnitus I did lots of research about tinnitus, read the book by Julian Cowan Hill, and learned that the reason for tinnitus is stress. A ted talk about tinnitus also talked about how loss of serotonin and endorphins can cause it. I therefore figured that a "fliatline symptom" of NoFap could actually be tinnitus. Does anybody else have opinions or experiences that could back my theory up?
I've started getting tinnitus in high-school and it went on through college. I've been on nofap for less then a week so I don't know if there's a correlation.
yes , study his videos , maybe even read his books. tinnitus is a major pain in the a... You dont have to live with it as so many people claim. Plus there is a marvelous side effect: those anti tinnitus exercises really help with urges too
Hi, gotta make a trackback here. I'm doing progress again, and reduced my P usage in easy mode. I didn't have any headaches for a month now, so definitely some positive effects. But for about 1-2 weeks, I now got a more annoying tinnitus (high pitch sound, low / medium intensity). I don't know as well, if it's correlated with nofap ... maybe ... Now I'm trying to find the cause. Maybe it's due to my headphones, and I'm already reducing the usage on my right ear. It has also some mobility component. If I do special stretching excercises, it has some effect on the ringing. Spoiler: YT Videos e.g. these and It's in German, but imitating the exercises is easy And yeah, I'm currently more stressed than usual ...
Dude, please tell me your on this site? I was doing a period of healing, eating well, meditation, then one random morning out of the blue I woke up deaf in my left ear with horrible tinnitus. The deafness is gone but the tinnitus remains. What is "flatline symptom"? How are you doing? Do you have any advice? Did the tinnitus fade?
I've never heard of anyone having tinnitus associated with nofap. Could someone explain this more? I thought tinnitus was a ringing in the ears caused by a loud sound eg an explosion, firing guns without ear protection, listening to music on full blast, etc. How would this relate to abstaining from pmo?
Actually it's pretty common. If you watch the forums closely you will regularly see people who get tinnitus from too much PMO or during withdrawal. I have it too. Here a few examples: https://www.nofap.com/forum/index.php?threads/ringing-in-the-ears-with-a-reboot-pressure.72886/ https://www.nofap.com/forum/index.php?threads/ringing-ears-blood-presure-in-head.87370/ https://www.reddit.com/r/NoFap/comments/1w4dww/anyone_with_tinnitus_ringing_in_ears_doing_nofap/
Yeah, I got it too and it became worse since Oct 2017, when I decided to increase my nofap efforts again. In general, I suspect it's because of the high stress levels. And I guess if you use the willpower method and abstaining from PMO, that creates stress and causes lots of different symptoms - including tinnitus. I found some YT tinnitus binaural relax videos are a bit helpful but it returns fast. Also I found this video which I find quite helpful and try to share it with as many people as possible, as the daily (and nofap) stress is always linked to tensions in the body/back/neck. To release some of them, try these excercises. Probably there are also some videos in English, but this one is quite easy to understand. Another thing may be: (in ear) headphones. I sometimes noticed this high ringing noice, after I inserted or removed my in ears too fast, so because of this air pressure, it made a quite loud "plopp" noice, which then triggers ringing for about 20-30 sek, so maybe that's another reason. (Other factor: Volume. I almost always listen with low volume setting, so that's usually not a problem for me, but many others listen with too high volume settings - that may cause tinnitus as well) I guess the best way to relieve it, is to go hiking in a quiet place / forest / mountain.
Just a quick update: I'm currently trying heat therapy with just a hot-water bottle. Seems quite promising. Links: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heat_therapy#For_headaches https://www.google.de/search?q=tinnitus+heat+therapy&oq=tinnitus+heat+therapy Also me should maybe look to change diet as I read there are some foods to avoid - but that needs more research first ...
Depends, if you have the 'effects' of tinnitus from from nofap or some other mental thing then yeah you can get rid of it. But if we're talking about real tinnitus here, you can't fix or cure that by any means as that's hearing damage from loss of the hair cells in the inner ear, and those don't grow back. Well, stress and mental illnesses usually down to anxiety, can give you the sensation of tinnitus as you can hear the ringing and what not. That's why when people stop pmo their anxiety goes up a lot producing different feelings and sensations in the mind and body. But true tinnitus is as you say a result of damage to the ears and that is not something that can be helped.
Not all tinnitus is as a result of damage to the ears, sometimes it's genetic. I've had tinnitus every since I can remember...probably my whole life. I don't remember a time without it in fact. But to me that's ok because I'm so used to it I ignore it. In fact it wasn't until I was in my mid-20's that I realised I even had something that other people don't. It gets worse if I attend a loud event or am dehydrated or have too much booze. I'll monitor on my Nofap journey and post any changes here.
@Master of chastity: My ears have been ringing constantly these past two weeks. (I feel I have entered the flatline stage.) I have been bewildered as to what the heck is going on. No loud noises lately, for example. So, it sure looks like tinnitus (sp) is indeed another symptom of recovery happening. THANK YOU for posting. You have helped me further understand what's happening to me. David
Good topic guys! I used to fap 3-4 times a day for couple years, then boom suddenly this high pitch terrible sound appeared in my head (also floaters appeared in my eyes the same time). The volume was that high that I could even hear it under the shower. Of course it came with no sleep at all, all day tiredness and so on. In my case, if I don't ejaculate for 3-4 weeks I almost hear nothing of this sound. So, my tinnitus has to do something with loss of serotonin and endorphins as someone mentioned in another topic caused by fap. Today I'm at day 24 and feeling great. I don't drink coffee or energy drinks and additionally I do 200 push-ups every morning. I always stop my nofap journey once a girl steps into my life. My record was 183 days Please share your story on tinnitus.
Glad to hear. And talk about the virtuous cycle working in your favor.....NoFap, no tinnitus, better sleep, better sleep, more serotonin and growth hormone, better muscle.......etc. Thanks for sharing this.
Hi, actually I believe yes. The reason why there are so little tinnitus success stories to be found is the mostly it goes away and people dont bother reporting on it. I am certain that in most cases T comes from stress (pmo induced). The key is the calm down, feel in your body, and it will back off. Do breathing, meditating, dont stress out, find yourself, forgive your enemies, stay out of politics, be productiv an positive.
Yesterday i got a sudden hearing loss and tinnitus at night. I couldn't sleep because of stress. I am depressed now.
looks like we have it from the same reason... My tinnitus always gets higher once I relapse on NoFap. I also have floaters
