So i've been going around the forums and saw people with streaks even more than 100 to 200 days still relapsed and eventually got addicted to the point where they were unable to go for more than 3-4 days.
My question is will P keep haunting us forever (I understand the urges will be greatly decreased but still...)?
Will we have to be vigilant forever? (I am in my teens now if you wanted to know)
This WILL NOT be demotivating for me as i would rather live a life like that rather than in a fake and pixalated world filled with P.
I would be grateful if someone with a good streak replied
    Thanks.

Not necessarily. It's what you make of it.

Yes, we will. It does get better over time, but there will always be times of temptation (more likely during difficult phases of our lives). So for those instances we have to stay vigilant.

Good luck to you on your journey. :)

Don't leave any room for failure. If you can't access your computer, how can you look at porn?

There are a myriad of strategies to try and control yourself.

Once you start to abstain from porn after a period of time and have replaced it with other habits. Eventually it isn't on your mind much and you get better at shutting down those voices in your head that want you to watch it.

As a personal testimony, I've gone without P for over 90 days then relapsed. For the longest time, I haven't been able to surpass even a month.

I'm convinced that this is a lifelong battle and have come to accepted it. It gets easier along the way, but an easy fight is still a fight. So yeah, he have to be vigilantes forever dude (lolwut).

    @A potato person

I'm currently 408 days into my streak.

I can happily say that porn was (for me) the first thing that totally lost its grip on my life. It hung around as a companion to the urge to M for a long time though - for example, if I was feeling tempted in the morning - because P, M and O are all linked, I'd feel tempted to watch it as a means to an end.

Fortunately, now I have absolutely no desire to watch porn again. I'm not tempted to in any way. The thought is actually pretty disgusting to me in fact, and as others have said, it feels like last time I watched it was a completely different me, a whole lifetime ago. I think I've probably programmed my brain to hate it, through lots of research into its effects, reading up about the industry and how morally corrupt it is, and getting involved with ministering to teenage guys who are struggling.

It did take perseverance though. Giving up doesn't just happen - you don't wake up one morning with no desire. After a while, sometimes you'll wake up totally in control, and totally on top of your cravings. Other times, you're smacked right in the face (or groin) with unbelievable temptation. Eventually the 'in control days' outweigh the 'smacked in the face days', and on the days you are really tempted, your body knows how to fight it - it becomes less of a 'hang on until it passes' and more of a 'I'm just not going to do it.'

You can get there, but a habit of a lifetime isn't easy to break. It's well worth it though, but that's a topic for another time.

    Keep going potato!

I find that the guys who went hundreds of days and relapse are completely lacking in humility and sense of reality.

They're the guys who constantly post things like I FEEL LIKE A BEAST, I'M FEELING THE SUPERPOWERS TODAY, SO MANY HOT GIRLS WERE CHECKING ME OUT. These guys fail because they try to replace their addiction of sexual self-idolisation with another addiction of sexual self-idolisation (replacing low self esteem and PMO to unrealistically high self esteem and promiscuous sex which is arguably the same as PMO).

There's no such thing as superpowers and for the rest of your life you will still suffer the human condition of being susceptible to any kind of sin.

Be humble, be caring, be realistic and relapse or even hardcore relapse to addiction will be easier to avoid as your head will be in the right place to judge it.

Thanks a lot guys for your replies.
I guess it does make sense that we will eventually get over it and kinda forget it. I think it is more likely to happen for me as I dont think P has completely been hardwired into my brain as i started watching only an year ago and started nofap 3-4 months after that. I just hope that day comes soon, after all that is what we all are struggling for.

@bandanana :D It seems kinda stupid when i read it now, i know but i didnt get the word i was looking for so..... But hey, English is not my language.

I just wanted to add one thing that I keep telling people. It is one hundred percent on your mindset whether or not it will continue to haunt you. The people that are relapsing, are choosing to relapse. It is a choice. If you go into it as IT WILL NOT ever be an issue in your life again, you will be a lot stronger. If you train yourself to divert when you see things that could trigger you that are not healthy (porn, lusting images, etc), than you will not struggle very much at all. It will be like remembering to breath when swimming. If you don't breath, well it ends really unfortunately for you, so obviously you will breath. That breathing is an instinct, just like diverting yourself will become to. If you look, the founder of NoFap is way beyond even counting the days, it is because he said no more. The people who are relapsing are looking at it as days, instead of milestones. Look at it as a milestone, but look at it as never again.

The short answer is no, and the long answer is yes.

The annoying thing about the kind of dysfunctional thinking that addiction creates is that when we are feeling an urge or are in an emotionally difficult state of mind or situation, there's a tendency to think "see, this is how it is, I was just fooling myself before when I was happy and free." Then if we "act out" (ie fap) we confirm in our mind how hopeless we are and this of course becomes a shame cycle.

The reality is states of mind are very temporary ... I don't know if you d noticed this in yourself, but when I am able to choose to just "be with " a negative state of mind and see where it goes, it always shifts and usually sooner than later.

So you're question is an excellent one because you have noticed, through observation of your mind and thoughts, that there is this feeling of "is this ever going to go away". Yup it is.

  13. Really? Are you sure? I wonder what kind of abstaining that really was... soft mode? Porn only? That seems a bit curious to me. I just pulled 121 days of total abstinence (longeet streak by far, ever) and fell (out of my own neglect and a surprisingly unforeseen and unpleasant emotional trigger that I had no plan how to deal with) and so I am currently curiously observing this new state.... I am in a near constant bad mood for sure... but any pull towards falling back into a self gratifying objectifying cycle is nonexistent... for the moment i am observing that reboot is a real thing... so like most everyone has said here the possibility of falling remains but it gets way easier... and you won't go back to square one if you fall like you do if you fall during reboot. Anyways it took 50 days for me to go from compulsive junkie to 'is that all you got' .... so it is still early days here... i'll report back

Just dawned on me... What if guys get mean in high school as a result of fapping and porn?

  15. I think our entire society is different on many levels because the vast majority of men are masturbators (or objectifying fuckers) Obviously the addiction changes you and you get to change back once you quit... it made me depressed not mean... it also was a factor in the woman I ended up marrying which is a much bigger prob ;)

@A potato person You should not always believe people on Nofap who have their counter on 100-150 days. Sometimes they do it on purpose or they don't care about resetting it more. I did that once too, until people were telling me "Dude, you made 75 days no PMO!!" It was actually 39 days. What I find really helpful was installing K9 and a porn blocker on your phone. Have someone you trust install it for you. Trust me, it may be embarrassing, but it's worth it. You may have to readjust it a few a times to get all the settings right, the websites you want to block, and so on. Even though I have lots of fantasies of porn, I haven't looked at a porn site in months! It's like cigarettes. When you get rid of the source, that's where the progress begins. I strongly strongly advise that you do this. At first it's difficult because you're craving for it all the time, you'll relapse here and there, but not due to watching P, just MO alone. I don't think of porn as much because I'm restricting myself not to watch it.

Also, I suggest you change your lifestyle a bit. Exercise more, do meditation, take cold showers, and most importantly, get involved with people to build meaningful relationships. It could be anything and who knows, you might have a gf at college or something. Don't be the guy stuck in the house playing video games. Since being a part of Nofap and following people's advice and making new friends, I've changed my lifestyle around a bit. Being engaged in social settings really helped me stay away from porn. But that's just me you don't have to take my word for it. Just do what works best for you. Good luck man! :)

Thanks @Namekian23 . K9 was really helpful. I couldnt help myself to ask someone to install k9 for me so i just installed it myself and enetered a random 3 digit password. Sometimes, i got in even then so i asked my dad to put in a password for my laptop.

Yes, i believe i must change my lifestyle. Though i dont play video games and such, there are some things that need changing.

I am reading this just after a PMO so thanks a lot. It really helped lift my spirits up.
