Broken link has been fixed. If you tried to take it before and weren’t able to, you should be able to take it now. Sorry for the inconvenience.

  5. Why? As it says, it's about research on pornography use recovery efforts, and what better place is there than somewhere that supports exactly that? No one is forced to take the survey.

  6. Yeah, I was a bit confused too. Considering I've seen the off-topic section inundated with bots, it's understandable to assume that this was something of that nature.

Would it make you feel less suspicious if I added an avatar to the account?

That depends on the picture. Try to look for average girls unprofessionally photographed and don't forget to modify the image so that it can't be reverse googled. Good luck with your scam.

I was leaning more towards a cat picture, but thanks for the advice?

The college that is responsible and where this research is being conducted through, and the people who are conducting the research are listed on the first page. Their names, departments, and phone numbers are all there. All of that could be easily verified.

A moderator commented on this very thread. If this were not a legit survey, I'm certain she would also have been suspicious. However, she was the opposite.

If you read the rules of this site, you are not allowed to post a survey without first submitting a proposal and being verified. This survey would not be here had that not happened.

So I guess I don't understand how you could think this was a scam given all the above.

It was a joke, I filled out your questionnaire.

If you're Treva, don't put your picture here please. I stalked one out of facebook and almost masturbated to it. Thanks.

  11. Once the moderator commented and the fact that you seem like an actual person since you have responded to people here, all doubt was removed. However, I should say that the message "Posted with permission from the Moderation Team" isn't really that comforting since anyone can type that on here. Although the amount of people who "liked" your post is admittedly evidence to the contrary. Perhaps there should be some consideration on how surveys like yours are conducted on this site in the future so misunderstandings like this don't occur again. Even an immediate response by a moderator stating it's safe/you have permission directly below your post would work.

That being said, I will gladly fill out the questionnaire, now that doubt's been removed. Good luck with the survey.

The link for the survey/research is now working. I completed the survey.

@ForTheResearch in my opinion it seems quite trustable and professional (you are giving the purpose of the study and the details about the survey wich is pretty good) , as an ex-student I can say there is nothing wrong using a free website for survey for research. If you want to spend money on creating a website just for the survey it is okay, but there is no need if there are free websites that can do that for you (for instance google surveys). And of course if you use a website of surveys, the same website will promote or show up their webpage to get known (why wouldn't it be a trustable website?).

I don't know why would anyone get scared of this, or get suspicious about this. What is the danger or risk in answering a survey? But anyway, everybody is free to think what they choose to think.

And about the avatar, in my opinion it would see less professional adding an avatar to your profile. If your profile is here just for research purposes there is no need to add an image about you or a picture about anything. Just my opinion.

  13. So, you can't receive scams in your email?

There is all the detailed info you need about the survey on the very first page.

Yeah, an account called @ForTheResearch which was created before the research survey was legitimately posted on here. There are many accounts that don't have avatars, but that doesn't make them "sus af."

If you think something is suspicious, please don't hesitate to report it so we can check it out and determine its legitimacy.

I like it. I feel this is really needed and my wounded heart is glad someone is trying to get to the depth of this addiction and its (hopeful) recovery. Thanks FTR for setting this up.

It would be cool and nice if you share us the results of your research. At least I am interested in that.

I'm not a fan of the Off Topic sub-forum, but this thread may change my mind. It's more active than similar threads on the other forums and the speed with which the broken link gets pointed out and fixed is pretty impressive.

Plus this interchange made me laugh

Just completed the survey. People saying this is suspicious can't have looked at the survey. The full name of the researcher is given as well the university. You also have the contact details of those involved in the research.

Thank you all for participating in the survey!

If you've opened the link, but have not submitted it, you have 7 days to finish it before it closes. Thanks again!
