Why doesn’t everyone put a day counter?

I notice a lot of people on this site don’t put a day counter in their “badge” area under username..

I think it would be really cool if everyone on the site used the day counter, both guys and girls…

I mean, that is the backbone of this forum right? To not masturbate..

I guess it’s better to have a more relaxed environment, but I think it’d be a cool experience for everyone if we all used a day counter at all times

I don't have a badge because 1) nowadays I don't care what about what day I'm on and 2) when I had a badge people on this forum would attack me when I had a reset.

I don't think a day count is that important. It's not like you reach some magic number and are instantly cured. I know this will be something that I will need to be aware of for the rest of my life.

Yea true, but I think people who are able to reach the 500+ day level without porn or masturbation are pretty advanced and their knowledge and opinions carry more weight than a person who is under 100 days for example

This is a very personal journey. The advice of someone who has been away from this addiction for two years may not help you, and the advice of someone who has been away from it for an indefinite number of days may be the key to your recovery.

Theoretically I agree.. but I just kind of imagine if like say everyone on this forum who was at 250+ days were giving advice to people who were struggling, it could be beneficial

I’d even argue that someone who has just relapsed technically isn’t even in a mind state capable of giving proper advice. Porn and masturbation seem to warp the mind/body complex..

    That's true.

Anyway, just because someone doesn't have a counter, doesn't mean that they have relapsed recently.

    This is a great read:

I don't do it because it can become a stumbling block for me. When I have success in abstaining from PMO, having a counter of it makes me feel self-righteous. It produces pride in me; and that's what I want to avoid. The Bible says "God opposes the proud, but give grace to the humble". I don't want to think of myself as being superior to others, so I probably will never use the counter.

Some people on those types of days can be quite arrogant and act as if they're better than anyone else who's on lower days.

I’m new here (back after 10 years) and so far could not find anywhere any guidance (neither in the forums nor in new to NoFap nor under help ) how to set up a day counter. Is this maybe why many don’t use it?

If you’re using a laptop/pc you can find the “Update Day Counter” tab at the top of the site. If you’re on mobile you need to click the Menu (three lines top left) and then select the “Update Day Counter” tab.

Is day 0 the day of the last relapse or the day of first day clean?

Last relapse/reset…once your counter shows 1 then that means you’ve been clean for an entire day.
