  2. ...Well, far be it from me to shed any tears over seeing Pornhub's boat getting rocked, but holy crap. In my years of shamefully and regretfully visiting the site, I've never come across such content. Then again... I never looked... except once. If memory serves, a thread a while back highlighted a petition against Pornhub about this very subject and I couldn't believe it was true, so I very briefly investigated myself. Didn't find anything. Never tried again.

It's nice to see measures are being taken against this sort of thing, but if this has been going on from sometime and I was just naively unaware of it, I wonder why this hasn't happened sooner.

The problem with the way it worked before was it was far too easy for stuff to fall through the cracks. I've never seen anything illegal either and I doubt most have, but it doesnt mean its not there. Human verification is an absolute must regardless of where you stand on the ethics of porn in general.

Problem is, it's hard to tell. Girls Do Porn ended up being a giant rape and scam factory pretending to be legit, tons of other things labeled as amateur ended up being revenge porn. Etc

  6. This is one of great virtue at least in porn industry to ratify some thing like this but whatever it is, it can be an implicit way to gain control over the users.

Which is a high bar to do - because lets say two 25 year olds enjoy filming themselves and then decide to put it online, 100% consent from both the creation and posting. However, what mechanism can PH use? Signed statements, notaries, ?

Honestly its nice to see that there seems to be a general agreement that this is a good thing. I was half expecting this thread to turn into into a shitshow with people trying to argue this somehow violates the rights of the people who uploaded legal content and had it removed, or that this is a step too far or something along those lines. Now I'm not going to try and use the "this is a private company" argument because I dont even think its relevant, for me this is entirely an ethical and moral argument. I dont doubt the majority of videos on these big sites are above board (as above board as porn can be I suppose) but its been an open secret that a lot of them arent for ages and frankly its insane its taken them this long to do anything about it. At the end of the day, anyone who cares enough to care about their videos being removed to be mad about it can just get verified, and have their videos be scanned through by the new moderation team and after that they are fine. In my eyes there is literally no downside to them doing this, and honestly the people flipping out about this online are exposing how pathetic they are.

Hopefully this is just the beginning. Regulation of porn industry is far overdue... especially considering how much money and influence they have. I'm grateful for VISA and Mastercard for finally hitting them where it hurts, and forcing Pornhub to make this move.

However, legislation needs to be passed so that little kids can't easily stumble onto this crap. You guys are talking about ID verification for people posting vids, fine. But I think there should be ID verification for people viewing the content as well. I'm guessing close to 100% of us on these forums were viewing hardcore internet pornography well before the age of 18. That's pure exploitation. And a "click that you're 18+" is obviously not going to do anything. Seriously, could you imagine if tobacco and alcohol got to operate this way?

It's time to fight back against this exploitative multi-billion dollar industry.

  13. There should be ID verification on all porn sites. But it’s needs to be stronger than a click this button to verify your 18 years old.

The tobacco and alcohol industry have regulations (Must be 21+ to buy etc.) but the porn industry doesn’t have regulations? Doesn’t make sense.

Sooner or Later there will be another Big Porn Website who don't accept Credit Cards but run it with advertisements or Crypto or Paypal. And they will Upload all amateur videos and reupload all deleted videos from pornhub as well. I said that because there is no such a concept anymore. If it is not from the US it will be from Russia. There are alot of rich men who would run such a website without caring about verification. I mean websites like Chaturbate came out of nothing or Onlyfans are from the creators of the website myfreecam.com. Those are relatively new websites/apps. And to be honest I have seen 13-14 year old girls who are masturbating infront of the camera with fake Accounts or the Profil belongs to another woman. You can trick such a System easily. There will be definetly another Website within 5 years. I was thinking already the whole day about it.

  16. Giving personal information out as a requirement is kind of weird, especially in the context of the internet. I could easily see the government exploiting that for the purpose of spying.

At first I thought it was a bummer that PH removed all unverified video uploads. But the arguments brought up here turned my vision around in under a minute!

But seriously guys I don't think anyone is going to give his ID to a P site! I might consider it, if there was truly no alternative. But there is. For now there will be. Just like someone up ahead posted - there will always be another website who doesn't obey the 'rules'. It will take a huge undertaking with cooperation from a lot official parties and countries to get a ban on websites that aren't on their 'verified' list.

But come to think of it, it might be possible. Here where I live in Europe it's already near impossible to enter let alone download anything from any torrent sites. Similarly, every P site could be blocked aside from a bunch of websites that require the ID verification.

I haven't tried VPN services yet, but I think even those can be regulated in a way that they don't allow 'safe passage' to certain websites. Now all we need is those damn businesses (P websites in this case) to invest more in security, you don't want anyone to link the T P you watched with your ID if that website was hacked. I'm confident a LOT of people are going to be blackmailed by criminals when it happens. I say WHEN because you know, Murphy's law. ;)

Nevertheless, the internet is a curse and a blessing - freedom and cuffs at the same time, and I'm afraid the internet is going to be policed in the future like real life is.

I went to Pornhub during my last relapse and the place is purged! Especially under the BDSM category, most of the "good stuff" is gone. Now that I'm in my right mind, it's good to see.

EDIT: I have mixed feelings on the legality of porn. I think that it harms society, but I also don't like the government acting as the morality police. What I would like is an equivalent to how purchasing or viewing porn used to be. You had to go to a physical location, hope no one saw you, and then hide the evidence. It was a shady business and so it should be. I don't think porn should be illegal, but I also don't like it being as openly accessible and culturally acceptable as it is. Keep it tucked away in the dark corners of the Internet where the wrong click could infect your computer with a virus.

  19. If it's on a disk or cassette don't let young hands have access to it. I was lucky to not know what the hell it was.

  20. It’s great on paper...but this still doesn’t change anything. There is a channel on PH I had my suspicions of, their videos were very messed up and they it is verified. They are still up.
